I went as a new patient to have 4 cavities filled in one sitting since Dr. Bader said it wouldn't be a problem doing them all at once (estimated time was 90 minutes). The same hygienist that cleaned my teeth during my initial visit applied anesthesia to all areas (in my experience the doctor has always applied the anesthesia, not the hygienists). When Dr. Bader came into the room I could tell that she was rushed, even though I was scheduled to have 4 fillings. During the first filling she commented to her assistant "only shine the curing light for 5 seconds, you can cure it more when I'm done". Dr. Bader's assistant barely had time to perform her tasks because Dr. Bader was hovering right behind with the instruments to do what she needed to do. As soon as the first filling was done Dr. Bader told her assistant to explain what was done and rushed off. Upon Dr. Bader's return I learned that the anesthesia was "low power" and according Dr. Bader they should have used laughing gas on… me because this anesthesia only lasts 45 minutes so they needed to apply more anesthesia. Then began the worst dental experience of my life. The second filling was between two teeth and Dr. Bader got "creative" in her words and filled it from the side. She then rushed off again but not before telling her assistant to remove the clamps and equipment still in my mouth. According to the assistant this was the first time she was removing a clamp. After a valiant effort the assistant went to get Dr. Bader who returned and even after much tugging and pulling was unable to remove the stuck clamp. This meant that Dr. Bader had to drill the newly applied filling, remove the clamp, and do the filling again. Part of this process involved Dr. Bader applying MORE anesthesia which she rushed and in her haste it felt like she hit a nerve which caused my lower lip and tongue to tingle / sparkle / radiate with pain. Once complete Dr. Bader removed the clamp and rushed out again, telling her assistant to get my mouth ready for the third cavity. I told the assistant I wasn't staying for the third filling. I checked the time and it had been just over 2 hours. The assistant went to tell Dr. Bader who returned asking, "Are you in pain?" to which I replied "No, but this has been the worse dental experience of my life." I firmly told Dr. Bader that it wasn't the assistants fault, it was Dr. Bader's fault because she is responsible for knowing the assistants skill set and ability. I also said that I would pay for the work that was done but I was going somewhere else. Other negatives that I didn't include above because it is already so long: 1. The assistant for my fillings kept having to leave the room to get supplies / equipment that Dr. Bader was requesting. This resulted in Dr. Bader continuing to drill without suction or water. The result was smoke rising from my mouth and the acrid smell of drilled tooth. 2. Dr. Bader was going so quickly that the assistant couldn't keep up so I was knocked in the head multiple times by arms and elbows. Tools were also dropped on the floor and on me. 3. Many of the staff only speak broken English and Dr. Bader is difficult to understand at times when she is speaking to you during the procedure. 4. The staff pushes hard for 5 star Google reviews. They even follow people as they are leaving and ask them. The one redeeming part of this whole experience and the reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is that Dr. Bader didn't charge me for the fillings. With that being said, these are my teeth, you only get so many second chances with them. I'm going to see a different dentist in a couple days and I'm very afraid that I will need to have the fillings redone. I will update this review once I have visited the other dentist. I strongly advise against going to Lake Pleasant Dentistry. Please, for the long term sake of your teeth and dental health, take the time to find another dental practice in the area. Even if you have to drive a little farther or go out of your way.
