Had a crown put on and 4 months later I'm still experiencing pain. Dr. Thompson can't fix it.

I agree with some of the comments. She appears to be aloof. Her charges were so excessive for a 3 minute examination that I complained to my insurer. The charges were subsequently reduced so I don,t know if the adjustment was from her end or what.

I have been going to Dr. Shelley for about 9 years now, and am shocked to read the other reviews listed here. I have found her to be very professional, caring and ALWAYS concerned with my needs. I would, and have, recommended her to friends and family.

I had a small cavity filled by Dr. Thompson and experienced significant pain afterwards (never had dental pain in the past). I made another appointment to have her take a look at it. She made a minor adjustment and said it should be fine. I continued to have pain and went to see her an additional two times. After the third visit, she couldn't seem to explain what was going on, and I was told that the tooth would have to be crowned. I'm not a dentist, so I trusted that if that's what she was telling me that's what should be done. I went in to have the procedure done by a new dentist they had just hired (my appointment was supposed to be with Dr. Thompson, but she wasn't available that morning) and thought everything should be all set. Nope. I had even more pain after the crown procedure. After visiting the office yet again, I was told I likely needed a root canal. What?! After doing some research I discovered that getting a crown can sometimes result in a root canal. So I… went to a specialist and got a root canal. Still had pain. Went back to Dr. Thompson and after "shaving down" my tooth yet again, was told if I continued to have pain then I should go see the specialist again as she could've missed something! I went back and had the root canal redone and still had pain when biting. I decided at that point to see another dentist in the area since I was so fed up with Dr. Thompson's office. The new dentist was able to make one minor adjustment to the tooth that took away all of my pain. My family moves frequently and I've visited several dentists across the country - this is the worst experience I've ever had.

I saw Shelley Thompson once, about 2 years ago. I hadn't had a cleaning or dental check since we moved to New Albany 4 years ago, my wife was bugging me to go see someone and so she scheduled me in to see Dr. Thompson. The staff and the hygenist were nice. After the cleaning and the xrays Dr. Thompson comes around and without even looking me in the eye, without even introducing herself she proceeds to tell me while looking at my xray that I need 11 fillings! I tell her, I'm not having any pain at all, is she sure I need all of them done. She says oh yes I do, and then crassly comments "it looks like you've had just too many sugary sweets". Mind you I am a 40-year old professional and I don't like to be scolded like a child especially when I am completely without symptoms. She hadn't even looked in my mouth. I went for a second opinion - Another more reasonable dentist told me that I probably could use about 3 fillings, the rest could be watched - she recommended more… frequent flossing and ACT rinse. That was over 2 years ago and I remain otherwise pain-free. Needless to say I won't be going back to Dr. Thompson.
