Dr. Sooyoun Chung, DDS

I thoroughly enjoy my job, and couldn't ask for anything more! Helping people smile with confidence is a truly rewarding profession, and I love getting to know the people I serve. A healthy smile is a beautiful smile, and I feel wonderful knowing that my patients are better able to take care of their teeth after orthodontic treatment. I am truly lucky to love what I do, and for my work to be appreciated by the people I work so closely with, my patients!

Before studying dentistry, I studied biochemistry in Yonsei University in Korea, and attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison for graduate school, earning my master's degree in biochemistry.
My dental training was at University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. During my studies, I received the Comprehensive Care Award in recognition of excellence in patient management and total patient care. I was also honored with the Pierre Fauchard Academy Certificate in recognition of my outstanding academic achievements in dentistry. Upon …graduation, I was also inducted to OKU, the dental honor society.
I went to the University of California at San Francisco for my orthodontic residency, and received an MS in oral and craniofacial sciences and a Certificate of Orthodontics. UCSF is known for its cutting edge technology in diagnostics and various training in clinical orthodontics. My research was amongst the finalists in the prestigious Charles Schwarz Award given by the American Association of Orthodontists.

Orthodontics is constantly changing and evolving as new technologies emerge. For that reason, I am very active in continuing education. I attend local and national orthodontics meetings and seminars to sharpen my knowledge, acquire new techniques, and stay connected with other professionals in the dental and orthodontic field.

Dallas County Dental Society

In orthodontics, building a perfect smile takes time and effort. I enjoy working with each patient, assessing where they are in the treatment process, and making sure they are completely comfortable. As each treatment progresses, I have the privilege of seeing their smile bloom into something truly beautiful. At the end, when the patient finally sees their healthy new smile, their joyous expression always makes my day!
The fulfillment I get from seeing my patients happy with their smile is only made better by the personal connection we have made in the course of treatment. I love getting to know my patients and discovering what makes them unique and special.

I was born in Maryland, but grew up in Seoul, Korea. I am thrilled to make Texas my permanent home, and love living in Carrollton.
I have one daughter named Christine. She can't wait until she gets her braces, which will be soon! I love caring for animals, and volunteer at a local animal shelter with my daughter whenever we have spare time. We welcomed our first puppy, Coco this year, and we love spending time with her. She is a Shetland sheep dog, and very smart. I also enjoy volunteering at my daughter's school.
