Jan 6th, went in for a full upper, and partial lower. About half way through I feel a HARD rocking motion. She ROCKED the top impression from front to back and then back again. Jan13th, got the dentures. Top one fell right down like it was 3 sizes too big. She said some people need glue from the start and gave me powder to make them stay up. I felt a gap between my top front teeth and my bottom front teeth, about 1/16th inch. No way to bite into a sandwich. She hadn't even noticed. She got Dr Shostak who said remake the impression, and this time do wax try ins before final. So same assistant for 2nd impression. (Name was either Sam or Ashley.) This time it was a few smaller rocking motions. Her hand jerking the impression tray. I looked at her. She was TRYING TO LEAN FORWARD TO SEE DOWN THE HALL. So three more 2 hour trips for wax try ins, then I finally got my dentures. Still loose and fell off but not as bad as the first one. I left, put my dentures in using adhesive powder, and… on the way home I noticed my bite was wrong when I had my jaw at the natural resting spot. So made another appointment. He told me to make my back teeth hit, Then he told me the dentures are right. And he mentioned I might need a "hard reline". WHAT? The dentures were just made a 1 and 1/2 WEEKS AGO! So I spent a week trying using a million lbs of glue to hold the denture up, but eating and talking was a still major struggle. Then I found out about etsy selling kits for $100. It's FAR from perfect but at least I can actually TALK, EAT, and I HAVE SUCTION! For the first time I know what a "seal" feels like. (1st comparison, top pic theirs, bottom mine. In 2nd comparison, left theirs, right is mine.) Easier learning to eat and talk now. Took about 2 hours to make them. But it's better than dealing with AD. The assistant had said to him TWICE... "She's never worn dentures before." So? Is my perception invalid then?? At least I didn't rock my impression.

Dr. Showstark and his staff have taken care of me and my family for over 20 years. The attention to care could not be better. If you are looking for a dentist that treats everyone like family, this is the place.

My first visit to Affordable Dentures was pretty standard, you must get there at 7:45am and stand in line to check in. You wait quite awhile to be seen initially. Then you are taken back to get x-rays then sent back to the waiting room. Then after about an hour you are called back for an impression and again told to wait in the waiting room or come back at 2pm. When I returned, I again waited over an hour and was finally called back. I had 15 teeth removed and immediate dentures put in. I was told to return in six months for the permanent dentures. I went back several times before receiving my permanent dentures due to ill fitting dentures. I had sore spots on my gums and could not eat many foods due to the bottom denture floating in my mouth. I was aware it is commen for the bottom denture to be loose, but I had it relined, adjusted, trimmed each time I went back. Also each time I waited several hours to be seen. I finally got my permanent dentures about six months… later that appeared to fit in the office. Many patients in the waiting room were complaining about the length of their wait. I ended up going back many, many times for adjustments and on my last visit, the dental technician flattened the part of the lower denture that lies on the bottom gum. She flattened it so much that it only "sat" on top of the gum with no indention to go over (straddle) the gum. The bottom teeth also "flared out". I went to another dentist in Dunnellon, FL to be evaluated. I was told the dentures did not fit my mouth and the surface of the denture that should cover the gum on the bottom, was sheared down to a flat level that would never be secure. I go through no less than 1 entire tube of Super Poligrip per week. I get a reaction to it that dries out my lips to the point they crack and look chapped, as well as become very swollen as if I had collagen injections to plump my lips. It also makes me sick to my stomach because it oozes out from under the denture. I would suggest anyone planning to go there get a second opinion. I paid about $2,500 and have never used my permanent dentures and I am still using the temporary dentures that I received in 2009.
