Dr. Landin's practice is dedicated to introducing new technological breakthroughs when they add value to the patient's visit. They include digital x-rays, the VELscope, the diode laser and Oraverse, a local anesthetic reverser. Digital x-rays allow for the instantaneous viewing of x-rays and the ability to enhance that viewing with all the potential of the computer. The Velscope is a new diagnostic screening tool to improve the oral cancer check. By shining a light at the tissue the doctor can see if anything suspicious is occurring under the surface of the tissue.
The diode laser is a minimally invasive (i.e. almost bloodless) way of trimming excess tissue so that fillings and crowns can be perfected. It can even be used to eliminate unsightly blue spots (hemangiomas) on the patient's lips. For those patients who do not like staying numb after their appointment, there is Oraverse. When the appointment is almost over Dr. Landin will inject this drug in the same location where he injected the anesthetic. On average, this will cut the period of numbness after the appointment by 50%.
