Dr. Thompson grew up in Owensboro, KY. After high school he completed his undergraduate education at Kentucky Wesleyan College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry. Dr. Thompson then began his dental training at The University of Kentucky College of Dentistry where he graduated four years later with his doctorate of dental medicine.
After completing dental school, Dr Thompson continuted his education in Eastern North Carolina where he participated in a one-year general practice residency (GPR) at Vidant hospital. While in residency, Dr. Thompson concentrated on implantology, sedation dentistry, medically compromised patient care, and oral surgery.
To further his dental implant knowledge, Dr. Thompson has also completed Zimmer Institute's level one program and the 2013 MAXI implant course in Atlanta- a 40 day course that covers dental implants from A to Z and is considered to be the most comprehensive program of its kind.
