More about Dr. Vanessa Rose Salvato Houdek

Hello, my name is Dr. VANESSA HOUDEK and I am a licensed clinical Psychologist (Illinois) and certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). I am the owner and founder of EECS.

My clinical experiences have ranged to meet the needs of children, adolescents, adults and families with a variety of emotional and behavioral health concerns. My doctoral internship and post-doctoral residency focused on trauma therapy and assessment, including providing trauma treatment to survivors of childhood abuse, neglect, and other trauma; a deeply rewarding experience.

I have expanded my areas of clinical expertise to focus on women’s issues including trauma, grief and loss, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (postpartum). I often provide support related to anxiety and stress, family issues, relationship traumas, the transition into parenthood role, self-esteem and perfectionism concerns.

The EECS Approach to counseling services is centered on creating a warm and supportive space. Each client is understood as a unique person with the ability to actively engage in therapy and work with the therapist to meet unique therapy goals.

EECS believes in the power of research and science and relies on evidenced-based practices in treatment. Examples include use of cognitive-behavioral (understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors within context) interpersonal (understanding relationships and social roles) and trauma-informed approaches. Mindfulness is often utilized as well.

While I have a passion for improving the lives of women and working on women’s issues, I am also available and enjoy working with male clients and partners.
