Dr. Dennis Bahadur Thapa, MD

My experience with this doctor was horrific. He asked what was happening without looking up from reading his notes. Before I could give any kind of synopsis, he had already made his mind up that because I was smoking, I was contributing to my pain. I tried to voice my concerns about my pain issues with my back and he immediately got defensive as if I were 'attacking' him. I was simply stating my experience with severe back pain and where it was located, and that I had been to see several doctors and I was hoping that he was someone who could listen and work with me. I have had no prior experience with this doctor so I had no idea why he was so defensive. He said 'own it. You're overweight. You smoke. You need to do something about it too.' He didn't ask what I have been doing, I have been trying to lose weight, losing twelve pounds, and cutting down to stop smoking. He just assumed that I was taking no responsibility in doing my part. The man just could not hear me without… reacting in some derogatory way- black and white- no gray. He knew better and that was that. He reeks of inexperience and his 'bedside manner' so to speak was horrific. I started to cry because he simply had no idea how much I HAVE been trying to correct this pain. I am staying away.
