Dr. Timothy Benjamin James Jeider, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Jeider for over a year now. He has helped me in so many ways. I before I moved to Nevada I had seen several psychiatrist. They do not compare to Dr. Jeider. The time he takes with me to explain things is wonderful. I recommend him very highly.

My teen has a very complex and severe mental illness and has been seeing Dr Reyes (whom is fantastic) at this office since mid-2019. Dr Reyes asked if we would be open to seeing a student Dr so that we could continue to have hour long appointments but assured as that he would have eyes on everything so we shouldn’t worry. We reluctantly agreed since our insurance was changing and this office was becoming out of network and we didn’t want leave but the cost was exuberant. My teens medication stopped working and she was suffering. We had been working with Dr Reyes on changing, reducing, rearranging medications since she is highly medicated but he always said we had the option of returning to original dosages if the plan failed. Our first appointment with Dr Freeman (the student) wasn’t great. He is nice enough but slightly pompous. He skimmed my teens record and lectured us on how medicated she was. We explained what Dr Reyes was working on but it started to fail and quickly. My child… was entering crisis and I would like to keep her out of hospital. He immediately told me that she was on therapeutic doses and any more wouldn’t have any benefit. He then told me that she would be better off on long term care where Doctors could monitor her and make changes to her medications as they seem fit. My daughter is a competing athlete and we struggle to keep her doing the one thing she loves. If she is committed, she loses everything she has ever worked for. Scholarships, mentorships, sponsorships, everything. It’s the one thing that keeps her grounded still, she can’t lose that. Fine, he says, he’ll go talk to his overseeing Dr (Jeider). Dr Jeider hands him pamphlets for partial hospitalizations and says too bad so sad, if she is that sick, she needs hospital. I argue with Dr Freeman and he goes back to Dr Jeider and finally get a medication change but Dr Freeman calls me later that night to tell me that he’s made a mistake. The medicine has a serious interaction with another medication she is on. I can either stop the original medication or go the original route of keeping her on the old medication and hospitalization. I opt to stop her old medication and start the new one as my daughter is nearly in psychosis at this point. She has a severe reaction and lands in the hospital so when she comes home I contact the office and tell them what happened and asked if I could just go back to the original dosage of her main drug. He had the M.A. call me and tell me that when she is well enough that she can resume her medication but not the original dose and in fact he only wanted to reduce her other medications further if I continue on as a patient but I should really just take her to the hospital. He then had the MA give me the option of scheduling a follow up but my teen really needed to be in the hospital. Here’s the kicker. He gave me the option of sending him all of her paperwork from previous acute stays, previous Doctors, therapists, medication lists, etc. but I had already done that. It was already in the record, he just never bothered to review it. I asked the MA to please have him review it and return my call. 2 weeks later and no call yet. I filed a complaint and cancelled my teens appointment. For the record, my teen does not need a hospital. She is in no danger or is in no way violent. She has very early onset schizophrenia that is medication resistant and extremely hard to treat. I can only assume this illness is above Dr Freeman and Dr Jeider’s skillset so we decided to move on.

Saw a student Doctor under Dr Jeider. He didn't properly review my teens complicated records so when we arrived for our supposed hour long appointment (which was only 30 minutes), he just kept telling us how uninterested he was in changing her medication "because it works" and she was at therapeutic levels although the medications haven't been working for months and she was approaching crisis. He spoke to his lead Dr (Jeider) and he only wanted to avoid the situation and suggested hospitalization over and over, again without properly reading the previous Dr's post (who was fantastic). Finally got the student Doctor to try a new medication in which my teen had an allergic reaction and ended up in the hospital. I emailed the office and was told basically ,"too bad, so sad" you can put her back on her old medicine when she is well enough but she really belongs in a hospital and if she stays with me I am just going to reduce her medication further but if I wanted to go through the work and… gather her records to send to him, he would review them. BUT all of the records were already there and I had worked really hard with the previous Dr to get everything in. He just hadn't looked. Other then that, staff is great, office is nice. Student Dr will be getting his first complaint with the medical board. If you have anything even remotely complicated, be sure to the scheduling department. You dont want to end up with the wrong DR or you will end up worse then you went in.

I have seen many psychiatrists in my life but Dr. Jeider is clearly the most logical and helpful doctor I've met after many years of seeking treatment for a variety of disorders. I highly recommend him because there is little to no mental care of quality in Las Vegas - with Dr. Jeider being one of the best who really understands the basis for sound treatment.
