Dr. Lily Shakibnia, MD, MSc, DABR, FRCPC

Lily Shakibnia, M.D., M.Sc., D.A.B.R., F.R.C.P.C., is the chief of radiation oncology at City of Hope® Cancer Center Atlanta, where she oversees a team of multidisciplinary clinicians working with patients diagnosed with a wide range of cancer types. Dr. Shakibnia brings her extensive expertise in innovative radiation therapies to her clinical practice, with a particular focus on treating breast, prostate, lung, gynecological and head and neck malignancies. Dr. Shakibnia earned her medical degree at McGill University in Quebec, Canada, where she also completed a five-year residency in radiation oncology. During this time, she was named chief resident and won the Medical Expert Award – presented annually to one resident in the field – four years in a row. She also completed a distance learning master’s degree in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Board-certified in radiation oncology by both the American Board of Radiology and the Royal College of …Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Shakibnia is also a well-published scholar whose work includes research into toxicities related to treating head and neck cancers, stereotactic lung radiotherapy and treatments for glioblastoma. A member of multiple professional associations, including the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American Brachytherapy Society, she speaks fluent English, Farsi and French, as well as basic Arabic.
