Dr. Songprod Lorgunpai, MD

I suspect this doctor is overworked,as he replaced my primary care physician of over forty years. A primary care physician should be able to call his patient back or respond on line in an emergency same day ,on routine business 3 days. The Doctor is very corporate and is being told how to run things, but for this patient,it is not working, having recently been told that I should not expect a call ,as the doctor has a full schedule and often works outside normal hours and handles scripts in between,as well as emergency room calls,etc. My experience has been ,two months or more to get opinion on blood work, non responsive to on line requests for help.While in emergency room from hospital,etc.,non responsive in timely manner. My retired doctor, nearly twice his age,did this with a smile included.I suspect he is being told how to care for his patients and is willing to yield to the corporate side of the business. No other explanation.Told the issues to his staff and believe their hands… are tied as well. Belmont Medical Associates, needs more primary care physicians ,especially male, and fewer physicians assistants to get this back on track. Again,reasonably good doctor, working in a lousy environment, that needs serious attention. I have offered to speak to decision makers,but seems to have fallen on deaf ears. It needs to be fixed, or the practice is headed for an exodus. I will give it some time,( already been a year) and if no fix, will consider other sources for this important care needed.

I've been bringing my 101 year old mother to her visits with Dr. Lorgunpai. He's taken excellent care of her over the past couple of years. He spends time with her, answers all her questions, is extremely patient, attentive and provides excellent medical care and referrals when needed. His office runs efficiently and the staff and nurses are very responsive to phone calls between visits. The geriatric care department at Mt. Auburn is excellent, professional and kind and provides at home care when needed. I feel fortunate to have found Dr. Lorgunpai and his team. I highly recommend him and the Geriatric Department at Mt. Auburn Hospital.
