Dr. Neal K Shah, MD

Dr. Neal Shah, MD, is a dedicated interventional pain management specialist serving patients at OrthoIllinois, a division of OrthoMidwest. His passion for medicine was ignited at a young age after a personal injury and was further shaped by witnessing his grandmother’s struggle with diabetes in India. Observing the compassionate care provided by her physicians inspired Dr. Shah to pursue a career devoted to improving patients’ quality of life.

Dr. Shah completed both his undergraduate studies and medical degree at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He gained early insight into pain medicine during medical school and subsequently completed his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He then returned to his hometown of Chicago for fellowship training in Pain Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, further honing his commitment to comprehensive patient care.

In his practice, Dr. Shah …specializes in multimodal pain management approaches, utilizing regional anesthetic techniques and advanced therapies such as radiofrequency ablation, neuromodulation, and infusion therapies including ketamine and propofol. His mission is to develop individualized, comprehensive treatment plans that address the unique needs and challenges faced by each patient, especially those whose chronic pain has significantly affected their quality of life.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Shah enjoys exploring the city of Chicago, biking along the lakeshore, swimming, discovering new restaurants, and traveling globally with his wife to experience diverse cultures and cuisines. He is also an avid sports enthusiast, with interests in basketball, baseball, football, and tennis.
