Dr. James Robert Mckenzie, MD

I have to say right off the bat that Dr. McKenzie is an excellent surgeon. I thought about switching surgeons for an inguinal hernia when I read a couple of reviews on this site. I'm so glad that I did not switch. Dr. McKenzie was everything I would want a doctor to be. He was professional, personable, affirming, and gave me confidence that I had come to the right person for surgery. He performed my hernia repair robotically, and I was home that afternoon. I took one dose of pain medication when I got home, but did not need any afterwards. The next morning, I rolled out of bed with no pain, and only very minor discomfort, and went to my office to do some paperwork. I had a light burning sensation in the mesh implant area about 2 weeks after surgery, which is a normal part of the healing process. That sensation only lasted about 4 days. My follow-up visit w/ Dr. McKenzie was as expected. He was pleased w/ my progress, answered all of my questions, and gave orders not to lift any… more than 10 pounds for another 3 weeks. I also have to commend his office and surgical staff. Everyone was incredibly friendly, competent, and made for an excellent experience! Sincerely, Mark

Dr McKenzie is very aloof and unfriendly. He failed to address my personal concerns prior to or post operation. Office staff is friendly as long as you don’t mind waiting 8 hours for a post surgery concern call back or you can call 3 separate times until you finally get a response. Would NOT recommend.
