Summary

My approach to patient care involves treating all of my patients with honor, humility, and kindness. I treat my patients as if they were family members, doing everything I possibly can to obtain the best outcome. I will always take the extra time to make sure my patients feel heard and understood. I believe it is critically important to treat patients of all backgrounds, races, religions, and sexual orientation with the upmost respect and to create a safe environment free of judgement. My philosophy is that the foundation of patient care is the human connection. Additionally, as an osteopathically trained physician, I understand the importance of looking at the entire picture, instead of just focusing on one aspect of the problem.

During my medical school rotations, I found that I was able to create relationships with my patients aside from simply prescribing medications or preforming a procedure. My patients would ask to talk with me, and I would find myself always staying late at the hospital to listen to my patients’ life experiences. Even as a medical student, I tremendously valued my patients opening up, and felt so honored that they chose to be vulnerable with me. Psychiatry was a natural fit as compassion and empathy drives my will to practice medicine.

Guiding a patient along their path to mental wellness is one of the greatest privileges. Psychiatry is exceptionally rewarding as I have the opportunity to be there for my patients throughout great pain and great joy. I love fostering a partnership with my patients, creating specific and personalized treatment plans for their unique needs.

I grew up in Chicago, went to undergraduate school and medical school in Michigan, and completed residency training in Florida. I love to paint, draw, exercise, and cook. I love Indian food and Ethiopian food and can never seem to get enough of these two cuisines. My husband is a psychiatrist as well, and we love talking about the latest treatments and therapies. We are a very nerdy couple, and we love to spend our weekend catching up on the newest psychiatric literature. Together we have two Havanese dogs, one named Penguin and the other is named Yin Yang.
