Dr. Tory Layne Weatherford

I went to the ER/Urgent Care and Dr. Weatherford looked at my abscess for one second and blurted out “you have breast cancer” and clearly was freaked out. She kept saying “this is very concerning, you have breast cancer” about 10 times. She clearly was rattled and then proceeded to ask when my last mamogram was. When I told her, she said, that is why you got breast cancer. She said that she couldn't treat me and went to call an oncologist. My daughter left the room to ask Dr. Weatherford to pull it together and calm down because she was worried about me. My daughter asked her to focus on next steps and not say repeatedly that I had breast cancer. She told Dr. Weatherford that typically people need to have a biopsy to determine cancer vs. looking at a wound. Which is why we wanted her to stop freaking out and get us to the next step. Dr. Weatherford didn't even dress my wound or offer suggestions on how to clean it. She gave us no information on what we should do with my… wound and we left. The next morning, we went to the recommended oncologist who was extremely professional (along with his nurse practitioner) and admitted that we should not have been told it was breast cancer without any tissue tests! At first glance they thought it was an infection and not breast cancer. Dr. Weatherford was completely inappropriate and caused so much emotional pain with her approach. I would never go back and would hope that she gets help on how to handle difficult situations appropriately especially given she is an ER doctor. What an awful and traumatic experience. I don't wish this upon anyone.
