In many ways, finding and changing to a new Primary Care Physician (PCP) can be a very daunting task. Every patient is unique of course in terms of what qualities of the PCP they are looking for. Typically, patients look for a PCP who is compassionate, caring, knowledgeable, professional, and other standard qualities that every physician claim to have. Yet those qualities are critically important, I personally look for far beyond the standard. I personally look for my PCP to be warm, respectful, honest, open minded, intelligent, critical thinker, effective communicator, and feel comfortable with.
I recently had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Erin Leigh Warren through virtual visit followed by an in-office visit for a complete physical exam. Based on my first impression, I was all the way impressed by what I experienced. I am very well know among my family and friends to be highly critical person and picky when it comes to selecting a new primary care provider or other health professional.… Right, wrong, or indifferent, I shall admit that I am seriously hesitant to acquiring healthcare services from new and young graduating physicians specifically from recent generations like millennial or later. However, my experience with Dr. Erin Leigh Warren made me change my views and reevaluate my thoughts again!
I begin by saying that Dr. Erin Leigh Warren and her office staff demonstrated great respect for time. In both encounters, Dr. Warren was precisely on time which reflects to show her high professional standards, respectfulness and being sensitively considerate doctor. For the past 20 years, I had a different PCP somewhere else and I do not quite remember once that I didn’t have to wait at least 30 minutes to be called into the exam room. That was very bothersome to me and very inconsiderate to say the least. In addition, Dr. Warren was exceptionally very quick to respond to electronic messages. Following the virtual appointment, I sent to her an electronic message requesting the lab orders that we talked about during the virtual visit. Impressively and only within less than 5 minutes, she replied back to me informing me the orders were sent to the lab. Truly, she demonstrated exceptional time management skills, respect, and high level of dedication.
Dr. Warren has phenomenal communication skills as she carefully and respectfully listened and without any interruption. She was calm and highly attentive to take clear and detailed notes that I had the pleasure to read myself later. She was very thorough in performing my physical exam and she never seemed to be rushed. She took her time and answered my questions very clearly and in a manner that made full logical sense. She was very warm and interested to hear about the kind of lifestyle that is working for me and I felt that was very pleasing. She allowed me to have open discussion on various medical concerns and mutually agreeing on tests and treatment options. Those qualities she has in her possession were critically important to create healthy, trustworthy and resounding doctor-patient relationship. She recommended me to have colonoscopy done which seemed to be a surprise to me especially being less than 50 years old. I was very hesitant to agree to the recommendation because I wasn’t aware that guidelines have changed. Also I had some concerns pertaining to risk factors of the procedure and I shared them with her. She respectfully validated my concerns, yet she clearly and convincingly explained why the procedure is important. In turn, we mutually discussed other alternatives and she suggested the Cologuard option which has lower risk factors. Dr. Warren is down to earth and she really went above and beyond to make feel very comfortable. I sincerely appreciated the two way and open ended communication between me and her. Her honesty and sincerity made me feel extremely glad to have her as my PCP.
I truly loved her philosophy and her conservative approach in making diagnosis and suggesting treatment options. Dr. Warren did not quickly jump to call medical diagnosis and prescribe medication for treating specific medical condition. For instance, being on Ketogenic diet for months comes with some obvious but not so dangerous side effects. Dr. Warren seemed to be well equipped with knowledge of the Ketogenic diet, how it works, what implications it has on the human body. She did not try to scare me off, steering me away from my diet, make me do additional tests, recommending frequent follow-ups, or prescribe medication. Dr. Warren showed high competence, confidence, knowledge, and critical thinker abilities in this matter! I also found her to be very open minded for the use of natural supplement as alternative to medication such as Organic Apple Cider Vinegar to cure a medical condition that I suffered from for decades. I simply explained to her that this natural supplement has been working great for me and I no longer in need for prescription medication to treat it. She trusted my claim wholeheartedly and she never tried to persuade me to go back to taking prescription drugs again or recommend any additional test.
All encompassed, Dr. Warren was sublime by being professional, knowledgeable, caring, open-minded, intelligent, compassionate and ambitious young physician. I hope that passion will remain solid and if it does, she will have a bright future ahead of her as she goes on to join her father, Dr. David Wolf at his own private practice. I am certain that she will make her father proud bringing in quality care and commitment to the serve the community. I would like to take a moment to congratulate her dad and mom for their efforts to raise a hard working and disciplined child. I hope that she will continue to grow in her knowledge and talent by learning from new modern medical research so she can advise her patients how to live a healthier life.
