To further refine his expertise, Dr. Lawton completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. This subspecialty training allowed him to concentrate on arthroscopic and open surgical procedures for injuries to the hip, knee, and shoulder. He also expanded his clinical experience by working with professional teams such as the New York Rangers (NHL), New York Liberty (WNBA), New York Guardians (XFL professional football), Rugby United New York (professional rugby), and the UFC.
At OrthoIllinois, Dr. Lawton’s practice centers on treating youth and adult injuries to the hip, knee, and shoulder, with a particular interest in arthroscopic procedures for the hip and innovative treatment techniques such as the BEAR Implant ACL restoration. His care philosophy is shaped by his own athletic background and the exemplary sports medicine physicians who influenced his career.
