Dr. Kimberly A Scotto-Wetzel, MD

Dr Scotto is lovely, but as my primary care physician, she is rarely ever available to see me. In the past 5 years, due to her lack of availability, I have seen her only twice. That was for physicals which were scheduled months in advance. Whenever I need to be seen for an issue more urgent than a physical, I am sent to a doctor who I've never met, because she is not available. In addition to competence, I expect continuity of care from my PCP. Continuity of care is impossible when the PCP is so unavailable and lacks a consistent assistant to see patients in her absence.

For more than two decades I was with Dr. Carol Larson before she retired. Dr. Scotto became my new doctor and I adore her. You never wait a long time in the waiting room. If have a 9:00 a.m. appointment, you will be seen a few minutes after your scheduled time She takes a good amount of time with a patient. You do need to book in advance to see her because she gets booked very quickly. If she is not available, there is a nurse practitioner. One thing I do really appreciate is, every six months I have insurance forms that need to be filled out due to my disability. When I left my job, they provided me with a life insurance policy and it needs to be filled out by a doctor. These forms confirm that I am still disabled. She always fills them out for me. She always works with me regarding my diabetes diagnosis. The medication can be costly and when I saw her this week she told me there is a program that might be able to help me. Today I received a phone call and I will be… receiving a group phone call on Wednesday. I appreciate that she thought of me.

Made an appointment for a yearly check up, the scheduler asks for the reason and I make clear it's for yearly physical. This was during coronavirus lockdown so had to reschedule it twice. Understandable. But in the 3x I spoke with them to re-schedule this appointment, no one could have mentioned it hadn't been 365 days since my last checkup and insurance wouldn't cover? I had to waste time and fare to come from Brooklyn for them to tell me this as I'm checking in for the appt. Then they blame me for not remembering when was my last check up when they clearly have records.
