Dr. Benjamin B Chandler, MD

My husband was seen by Dr. Chandler in the hospital and is still very upset by what Dr. Chandler said and how he said it. I would think, with a major surgery, some care should be given to the way it is presented. It scared the beegeppers out of me so I can just imagine how my husband felt. My husband was given 3 options which the Dr. quickly boo-hooed the 1st two and went straight to the most invasive, and serious option, "cracking open his chest, putting him on a heart-lung machine, and maybe he would make it. If he didn't have this operation his death would be extremely painful and they wouldn't be able to do anything for him except maybe relieve some of the pain." We felt there was no compassion or understanding in his presentation. It was more, here it is...deal with it. My husband was actually traumatized to the point that he said he would rather die from the problem than go through that surgery. We went for a second opinion by a more seasoned and experienced doctor. The outcome… was just the opposite. He told us he wanted to go a much less invasive way (which was one of the options Dr. Chandler said probably wouldn't work). Our doctor explained what was needed and said it with care and understanding, he made total sense. We would recommend you get a second opinion.

Guys like a pushy car salesman words like ( you gotta let me do it ,) (the other Dr is depending on me)(it's life or limb ) etc if the other Dr took the time to read a patients chart they would be in situation - infection & there all connected ? - run go to yale quick

Dr Chandler is excellent. Personable, knowledgeable. It's just too bad that office waiting time is so long and that his staff is such a bunch of morons!!!
