Went in for melasma, asked for a cream to treat, told by Kelley there isn't a cream and just time will cause it to go away. I asked twice. I then left and checked the literature and saw that a cream is indeed the first line of treatment for melasma. Messaged him twice and called him without a response. Finally heard back and he defensively and seemingly reluctantly prescribed it. Clearly he a) doesn't know how to treat a diagnosis in his specialty, which is concerning; or b) decides for me on my behalf (although I have not asked him to do so) that I don't want/need a cream for my melasma. Either way, neither is appropriate and something I want to see in a provider/person I’m paying to treat me. I also informed Scripps Health of my interactions with him and have yet to hear back. Relatedly, the doc ratings on Scripps Health aren't just for Kelley but are for many physicians, and thus misleading, and arguably false advertising. And I waited 3 months for this specialist visit.
