Dr. Merritt did a great job with my ACL repair surgery. He was attentive through the entire rehab process and was quick to return any inquiries I had. Explained all my options and helped me make the best decision for my situation. It's feeling as good as new and I'm ready to go back to fire academy.

Dr. Merritt took the time to listen to the issues I had with my knees and after x-rays, concurred that surgery was the best option. I was a bit nervous,who isn't anymore. The appointments prior to surgery only increased the confidence I had that this was the right thing to do. The day of the first surgery, I was apprehensive, only due to the unknown. I was in the surgery center around 6am and was home, with my meds, by 1230pm. Physical therapy for 6 weeks, then back into surgery for the other knee. Physical therapy for the other knee, then I was heading back to work full-time. I feel that the confidence of the staff, my positive this-is-a-good-thing attitude, and doing what the doctotors and therapists recommended is what made this experience go so smoothly. Be gentle with your self. Do the exercises. Elevate, rest, ice, take you meds as needed. You got this and THIS TEAM IS THE BEST!!

I had to travel three hours each way to see Dr. Merritt. They scheduled me accordingly and were wonderful to work with. Dr. Merritt gave me a knee replacement. It was customized for me and he did a 100% excellent job. My pre-surgery contact and control was excellent as was contact and care post surgery. I recommend Dr. Merritt without reservations.

Dr. Merritt did an excellent job repairing my knee and treated my case individually instead of leaving me feeling like I was just "one of the hundreds he has seen". As with most athletes, this injury was emotional as well as physical, and he took the time to listen to my concerns and was able to adapt the recovery timeline to my performance when appropriate. Being motivated to return to sport, I appreciated his ability to understand to my own goals and desires for training, allow me the freedom to push myself when it made sense, but also tactfully stand firm on saying no to movements or activities that would have been likely to cause re-injury without crushing my soul. In the year following surgery and a diligent course of PT, I returned to skiing, climbing, running, and biking without issue, even feeling stronger and more balanced in my movements than even prior to injury. I am a 74 year old female who had a hip replacement. I had it done in May, 2021, anterior approach. At first, I was hesitant to get this surgery but now I wonder why I was. From the pre-op to the post-op, Dr. Merritt and his team gave me a prescription for a successful outcome. I look forward to dancing again!

I am 73 years old, and continue to live an active life style to keep up with my 3 grandkids. Dealing with knee pain was beginning to limit my activities to keep up with my family. When our high school senior son tore his ACL and menesicus during football season, it was devastating at the time. We wanted to make sure we found the best surgeon to repair his knee. After looking at a number of suregons and meeting with them, we chose Dr. Merritt. Besides hearing positive experiences from others who have had experiences with Dr. Merritt, what made the difference to us was his willingness to take us much time with us as we needed and answer all of our questions. He also encouraged us to be part of the decision as to what type of repair to choose. We liked the technique he uses. I am happy to report that after 8 months our son has fully recovered to return to sport and we couldn't be more appreciative with the care and skill Dr. Merritt showed during the entire process.

In late 2018 and the first four months of 2019, at age 61, I experienced increasing pain in my right knee caused by arthritis on the inside of my knee. X-rays indicated bone on bone contact on the inside of the knee. Walking four to six miles a day had been an important part of my life for enjoyment and stress relief. The pain in my knee, which also was causing increased pain in my hamstring too as it tried to compensate, had reduced my walking to a struggle to just walk across the street to pick up our mail. I consulted with Dr. Fredrick Huang and Dr. Andrew Merritt of Proliance Orthopedic Associates, Renton, WA (met with them at their Covington, WA, office). After evaluating my knee condition, they recommended a partial knee replacement on the inside of my right knee. They advised that a total knee replacement was not needed because the center and other side of my knee were in good condition. A partial knee replacement is much less invasive than a total knee replacement and… can be performed as an outpatient surgery. Also, the recovery time is significantly less with a partial knee replacement. On May 10, 2019, Dr. Merritt performed outpatient partial knee replacement surgery on my right knee at Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA. The surgery went according to plan and I was back home in a few hours, after doing a short physical therapy session at the hospital before going home. In the first week I was already walking with the help of a walker and within two weeks I was essentially pain free. I went twice a week for physical therapy at West Campus Physical Therapy in Federal Way, WA. Four weeks later I attended my son’s graduation ceremony, walking about a mile each way to get to and from the ceremony. At six weeks I was vacationing with family in Hawaii where I was walking several miles. At two and half months I went salsa dancing with my wife and hiking on camping trips. I am 62 years old at this time. At one year from the surgery, my right knee is better than I can ever remember. There is no pain and no limitations. I go for walks twice a day every day, with total mileage of four to seven miles a day of walking, with no pain. I will soon be bicycling more too with summer approaching. From my latest doctor appointment at one year, the parts of my right knee that were not experiencing arthritis and were not touched because the surgery was only a partial knee replacement on the inside of the knee, continue to be healthy and have not progressed toward any arthritis condition. In summary, I am grateful for Dr. Merritt’s skills and giving me back an important part of my life by allowing me to return to walking and hiking without pain.

I’m 10 weeks post op RTHR (Right Total Hip Replacement). Dr. Merritt did the surgery using anterior approach. I won’t sugar coat it, the first four weeks after any major surgery are not fun! But the fast healing from the anterior approach is incredible! This new hip does not feel any different than my other hip. I’m walking, biking, doing yoga and cardio. Thank you doc, I’m running at warp speed again! I mean walking really fast! I met Dr. Merritt a few years earlier when he rebuilt my broken knee. Dr. Merritt and his team made sure I had the best care in both situations!! I am very thankful for and love my new hip!

Dr Merritt, did a great job cleaning out my knee and I'm very impressed with his skills. I highly recommend.
