Dr. Hackman left Valley Health, he is now @ FamilyCare in Barboursville, WV. Easy to get scheduled with him there

Dr. Hackman is that rare breed of doctor that is genuinely interested in your questions and concerns. I truly believe he does his best, working within the time constraints, of a very busy practice that treats people from all walks of life. He has always taken my concerns with medication side effects seriously. Compromises have to be made when it comes to antidepressants and it can be rocky journey to get to where you need to be. I completely understand how frustrating it can be, when all you want to do is feel better. He does not try to overmedicate you, which I appreciate. He listens. He is warm and friendly. He will answer any questions to the best of his ability. Appointment times generally run 15 minutes, after the first initial visit. This is the average time spent with most doctors, as they see 4 to 5 patients per hour. Staff has always been courteous and kind, from the receptionists to the nurses. (A, no + because one should always leave room for improvement :-)

I was refused service by him. I don't recommend him too anyone looking for mental health services

Dr. Hackman is a poor doctor in my opinion. I had taken 4 different SSRIs for a total of more than 10 years. I told him I wanted to cease Paxil so we started tapering down. However, he insisted that I replace it with Brintellix, another SSRI. Considering that 4 SSRIs failed to help and caused nasty side effects, I refused to take it and told him that serotonin was not my problem. He became upset that I insulted his education and refuses to treat me any longer.
