Dr. William Thomas Harris, MD

Dr. Harris’ hubris and pride almost killed my son. After ”Doctor” Harris discharged my son the first time, we took him to his pediatrician the next morning. My year old little boy’s eyes were leaking mucus, and an x-ray AND nasal swab confirmed that he had pneumonia. We took him back to children’s of alabama, just for “doctor” Harris to tell us “I don’t know why you brought him in, there’s nothing you can do for him here that you can’t do for him at home” He explained to us that our pediatrician apparently misread my son’s x-ray, and that the nasal swab (the SAME EXACT nasal swab that they run up every kids nose in their OWN E.R.) was unreliable. Basically, “doctor” Harris chose his own vanity and ego rather than just admitting that he may have made a mistake. Instead of being a man and taking responsibility for his own ineptitude, he chose to discharge my son yet again, refusing to believe anything was wrong with him. Less than 24 hours later, our son was fighting for his life… on 15 liters of oxygen in ICU in Atlanta. “doctor” Harris is the reason that neither of my children will ever be treated at children’s of alabama again. After this incident, Children’s of Alabama’s patient advocates reached out to us, with their legal counsel on the phone. We explored suing “doctor” Harris for malpractice, but children’s of Alabama’s high priced lawyers just bury anyone who tries under a mountain of paperwork until their legal funds dry up. Effectively covering up their own screw ups along the way. I implore you, if you care about your children, keep them far away from this maniacal sociopath. Do what we did, transfer your child’s specialty care to the #1 pediatric airway clinic in the country at Children’s of Cincinnati, and use Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for any emergency needs. Children’s of Alabama would literally rather kill your child than have an ounce of bad press.

We never feel rushed with Dr. Harris. He will stay in the room and answer every question in depth until I completely understand. He always listens to my concerns and values my opinion on my daughters health.
