Dr. Afua Mintah, MD

At my most recent appointment I arrived 15 minutes early, was taken back 40 minutes late, and before I even saw the Dr, the office manager came to inform me she was refusing my ADA request and would not wear a N95 to protect me during my procedure. I have conditions that affect my immune system and make me high risk for serious illness and disability if I am infected with any of the serious airborne viruses floating around. I had to refuse care as I do not feel safe having someone who is evidently hostile to a simple ask for protection, stick things inside my nether regions to perform a painful and anxiety provoking procedure. This was honestly very unexpected behavior as she wore mask during my pap smear appointment. I guess I now have an explanation as to why she was so short with me and not particularly gentle during that procedure. Even if I did not have high risk/compromising conditions she should put on a mask if a patient asks. It is the kind and right thing to do for… someone. And if she is going to refuse she should notify patients before they arrive for their appointments with her. Her unprofessional behavior has hurt me, caused unnecessary stress, wasted my time, and delayed needed care. I am so disappointed by her. She had so many awesome reviews.
