Dr. Carolyn Emma Cardamone

I saw Carolyn Cardamone re: a couple of very high lab values on my Function Health panel that needed follow-up. She began the appt by asking me why the labs were ordered, which was fine & expected. I asked if she's heard of FH, and she said in a semi-annoyed tone, "Yes, and then we have to try to interpret all of these 'weird' labs that we didn't order." I'm not sure what her intention was in saying that, but it was an off-putting way to begin the appt. She could have just focused on the specific labs I was seeing her for. She asked if FH has a Dr I can talk to, which I thought was odd because I was already there talking to *her.* I said that they tell people to see their PCPs for follow-up, which is why I (pretty obviously) made the appt with her. She asked if I have symptoms related to the high labs, and I said I wasn't sure. She said that w/out symptoms she wouldn't have ordered these labs but she's now "obligated" to do something about it since they were brought to her attention.… She said she probably couldn't help me, anyway, as I'd be referred to a specialist, but she could order an ultrasound to get things started. My labs were concerning enough that she would've referred me to a specialist, but she never indicated that it was a good thing I followed up w/ her. Instead, she was very clear about what she thinks of self-ordered labs. I didn't have a good feeling about Carrie managing my case, so I told her I'd just go ahead and see a specialist for further testing. By that point I just wanted to move on with someone else. I don't want to work with a PCP who's helping me just because she's "obligated" to. I want to work with her because she's interested in helping me as a person, patient, and member of One Medical, and most importantly because my lab results were high — no matter who ordered them — and did require follow-up with a PCP. I chose her as a PCP because she describes herself in her bio as "empowering individuals to take control of their health with a non-judgmental approach." That is not what I experienced.
