Dr. Donald Siegel

Dr. Siegel graduated with honors from St. Mary’s College in Moraga California. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from the University of California at Berkeley, earning awards for clinical excellence and research and was honored as the valedictorian. He entered private practice Optometry in Walnut Creek, CA. He joined Pilkington Barnes Hind as a clinical researcher developing new soft contact lens products. He joined the University of California San Francisco department of Ophthalmology as a senior Optometrist specializing in difficult to fit contact lenses on infants born with cataracts and adults with keratoconus and corneal transplants. He managed the department's multiple research studies. He was recruited to Bausch and Lomb as a director of clinical research and product development for gas permeable and soft contact lenses. Many of the products he helped develop are still earning millions in revenue. Dr. Siegel has been an invited speaker at the Academy of Optometry in the U.S. …and in China as well as the British Contact Lens Association and many professional meetings in the U.S. In 2003 he founded Sun City Eye Care a medical optometry practice caring for patients with diabetes, macular degeneration, glaucoma and ocular emergencies. He continued his research interest as the Director of Clinical Affairs at CooperVision and worked with Keeler Vision on glaucoma instrumentation.
