Dr. Aaron Gary Humphreys, MD

My neurosurgeon got me in to see him, since I wanted a Shannon Specialist . Since Dr Humphreys was new to San Angelo, it would be easier to get an appointment. I needed open rotator cuff surgery. At first, he was nice, then he started getting more and more strange. But, because my neurosurgeon recommended him, I felt he would do a good job. He never even went to talk to my husband after my surgery !! Neither of us knew exactly what he did !! I went back , to get my stitches out, 2 weeks later, and had to ask specific questions, to learn what all he did. I was recovering fairly well, until my 6 weeks checkup. He told me to get out of my sling, only wearing it at night. ( I have 2 screws and 2 pins). I thought I should wean myself out of it, but he said that I didn't need it except at night. Well, after about 3 hours, it really started to throb and ache !! The pain was really bad all night. The next morning, I put my sling back on, to keep the pain at least manageable. I… had pain meds and muscle relaxants, but this pain was over the top !! I was really suffering !! I went back to see him, and he treated me like I had done something wrong, or my therapist did. He turned, twisted and pressed on my arm and shoulder so much, that I was in tears !! He said that I had a Hematoma, and just needed to take my sling off, and deal with the pain. Well, I was too smart to take that ill advice, and went to an orthopedic surgeon in Abilene. He said that I have an Inflamed bicep tendon, and should wear my sling all of the time. Well, after some more tests, I have some pinched nerves in my neck - all because I took off my sling, rather than weaning myself out of it. The muscles and tendons in my shoulder could not support my arm all of the time. My surgery was almost 6 months ago, and my RIGHT SHOULDER is still in a sling. Being I'm right handed, it has been terribly difficult. I have a metal implant, so an MRI isn't possible. Even besides the horrible pain I've had to endure, Dr Humphreys mistakes have cost me over $1000.00, in copays, etc. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ABOUT HIM !!

The office was great. However when I had my ACL repaired my recovery did not go so well. I was in PT twice in a year where I never progressed back to normal after surgery. I witnessed several other patients with the same injury have surgery after me and heal fast than me due to different post op procedures and feel this caused my scar tissue to build up and I am still not well.
