More about Dr. Abbie Ruisch
Dr. Abbie Ruisch joined The Iowa Clinic in 2012 after being an independent physician for eight years. She joined TIC to be a part of primary care growth and have direct access to multiple specialists. Dr. Ruisch chose family medicine because she likes the variety it offers, as well as forming relationships with patients across multiple generations. Dr. Ruisch has lived in the Johnston area for most of her life. She had the opportunity during her college years to spend six weeks with an indigenous doctor in Ghana, which helped her decide to pursue a career in medicine. She is a regular donor to Hope Ministries in Des Moines that supplies food donations once a month to the women's shelter. She is also involved in her church with her husband and three kids. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, going on walks, reading, and going to movies. If Dr. Ruisch was not a physician, she might have been a teacher.
