Your bladder is the hollow, muscular organ in your lower belly where urine is stored. When you urinate, the muscles of your bladder contract and push urine out through a tube called the urethra. Bladder cancer starts when cells in the bladder start to grow out of control. These cells can form into a bladder tumor. They can also spread outside your bladder to lymph nodes and to structures far from the bladder, like your bones, lungs or liver. This is known as metastasis.

Dr. Naaman performed a gastric bypass May 23, 2005, and found tumors on my pancreas, stomach, and liver. Helped me find an oncologist, did tests, and together they took the findings before a board who decided I'd die soon from the gross obesity than the carcinoid cancer. The bariatric surgery was done July 15, and they seared the 3 tumors. I did so well with my weight loss, he released me about 3 months sooner than we had planned -- I had followed all his directions. The day of surgery, I think i weighed 386 lbs, was 56, and 5'2". Today, I am 68, 5'2', and this morning I weighed 153. I can't speak for others, but MY surgery went great, terrific results, and while my particular cancer is rare, and does what it wants in the lymph and blood systems, I'm very satisfied with the bariatric part.
Had 2 surgeries performed by Dr Naaman. The second one was supposed to "revise" what didn't work well in the first one. He refused to believe his "revision" did not correct the issue and basically sent me away. I went to another Dr who performed a third surgery and found my first two surgeries had been very damaging but he was able to correct what had not been properly addressed in the first two surgeries. This guy I would recommend to nobody. RUN away!!!!!! A very arrogant and dismissive dr to me.
I had a severe post-operative MRSA infection following surgery done by another Houston GYN surgeon, and Dr. Naaman assumed care for me at Memorial City Hospital, and finally, after almost 6 weeks of fighting the infection, and his creativity-since I am diabetic, I do not heal well, he was able to get the wound to heal-and it was a large one-hip to hip and belly button to pubic bone, basically. He had an excellent bedside manner, as did Julian, his RN assistant, and they always showed that they cared about my pain level as well. After I was able to beat the infection enough, I could finally return home to Seattle. A couple years later, I had some further, unrelated problems my Seattle doctors were unable to figure out, so I returned to Houston, and very ill and nutritionally depleted, Dr. Naaman had the problem figured out, treated, and my nutritional state improved in 2 weeks.
