Dr. Mellis graduated with Highest Honors from Emory University with a B.S. in Biology, and received his Doctor of Medicine at Louisiana State University College of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed his Surgical Internship and Urology Residency at the University of Oklahoma where he also completed his Fellowship in Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery under the direction of the distinguished Uro-oncologist, Dr. Michael S. Cookson. He is an active member of the American Urological Association.

I am a 62 year old female who just had a 2 week follow-up with Dr. Mellis for robotic assisted laparoscopic sacro-colpoplexy. Dr. Mellis was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. He is a Master Surgeon and a wonderful, kind man. I am beyond pleased with Dr, Mellis, especially his competence and compassion. I feel so Blessed that he was my Surgeon.

During an emergency room visit, they found a growth on my kidney. I was referred to Dr. Mellis by my urologist and he was very thorough, kind and caring and gave me options. He explained them all in easy to understand language. His staff has been supportive and very helpful. I had a whole list of questions and he was very patient in answering each question to help me make the best decision for me.

At 68, after a life of good health, a diagnosis of kidney cancer requiring removal of a kidney came as shock. I was interested in pursuing robotic surgery, and Dr. Mellis was recommended by one of his colleagues. He thoroughly covered all aspects of the procedure, and answered all of the questions I had accumulated. I was impressed with his expertise and record, his patience, thoroughness, and warmth of personality. I left his office with a feeling of confidence and calmness about the surgery, being in good hands going forward…

Dr. Mellis is one super physician and urologist. My closest friend is a retired urologist in Charleston SC. and I told him how impressed with Dr. Mellis. He and I have a close relationship wiith the city of Oklahoma City. THE BEST

Dr. Mellis and his staff are amazing. Dr. Mellis has prepared me for surgery and I know exactly what to expect for the day of surgery all the way through recovery.

I highly recommend Dr Mellis. He takes the time to listen and explain any questions you have. He truly cares about you and after my first office visit I knew he was the one to perform my Radical Nephretomy. I am.so happy to have Dr Mellis as my urologist and Surgeon!
