Dr. Alan Marshall Metzel, PhD

Dr. Metzel was professional, thorough, and fair. He was respectful and kind. He asked relevant questions and listened closely to the answers that I gave him.

It was a Godsend, the day I was sent to his office for a mental health evaluation. He was ethical and interested in my mental and physical well-being. His evaluation helped me to obtain a positive rating and I'm sure I'll receive better care within the VA mental health department. Thank you Dr. Metzel

The Veterans Affairs should be ashamed that they send people to this guy for evaluation. I could write a book about all of the stuff he got wrong about me that was in my chart. Kept saying I was in Marines ( FYI never been in Marines).. I told him I took care of patients at the Pentagon on 9/112 and he says " while you were stationed in NYC." He is clearly in it to collect a check from the VA and that is it

I would like to thank Dr. Metzel for all his help in my mental disorder case. I have been suffering for years. Dr. Metzel was very professional and knowledgeable. Dr. Metzel made me feel comfortable in answering questions. He took all the time necessary and then some to complete my case.

Dr. Alan truly has a gift for helping you understand the psychological problems you go through. And he also helps you have a true way of focusing on the problems that you are suffering with and being treated for. Very helpful and very knowledgeable is how I will categorizer.

Dr. Metzel did an excellent job during a VA examination that I recently saw him for. He was compassionate, insightful, and very professional during the examination. He showed me hope in a seemingly hopeless situation by pointing out some things I didn't realize about my life situation. Dr. Metzel sincerely cares about his patients.

I had to go for a c&p exam. These always cause me high anxiety. Dr. Metzel was kind and professional. He completed my exam with the utmost respect. I appreciate that he kept things this way and it put some of my anxiety to rest. All in all it was a good visit.

(Early 2018) This "doctor" was combative and argumentative before he had even introduced himself. I had been sent for a PTSD/TBI evaluation by the VA. He blamed the disshoveled apearance of his office and clothing on a recent sale of "this office' and current move to the new one. He wore sandals and a dirty shirt, answered his cell phone several times during my visit, and challenged nearly every answer I gave. He claimed that 90% of veterans don't like his finding but he gets paid well for his opinions so he doesn't care. His report stated that I Googled PTSD/TBI symptoms and had no ailments (Even now, I don't know what the symptoms are because I have never looked them up). I lost benefits that 5 other doctors had found to be service connected and compensatable. Not only should he never be allowed around US Vets, he should not have a license to practice.
