Dr. Alan M Tarshis, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Tarshis for over 28 years. I find him to be an excellent Doctor and would refer him to any one having issues. He was comforting and reassuring even at my worst.

He did not introduce himself when I came in as a new patient. He walked in acting annoyed to be in the room right away. I do not feel Like he listened to what I had to say and ask.

I'm certain Dr. Tarshis is somewhat knowledgable in gastroenterology. But trust in his expertise is lost in his extremely condescending attitude towards patients. He refused to listen to my symptoms and tried to convince me that it was all in my head because I'm just too anxious and promised me that my symptoms would never return. They returned the very next day as usual. He also tried to convince me that my last doctor diagnosed me with something that doesn't exist and merely gave me the diagnosis because it sounds "sexy." He told me the diet my doctor suggested for me is a farce and I've been wasting my time with it when actually it has made me feel loads better. Utterly disappointing and inconsistent with every other doctor I've seen.

He was dismissive and condescending! Please don't waste your time and get the help you need from another doctor.

I had a colonoscopy. He was the doctor. His bedside manner is not the greatest but the worst part was while I was in recovery he didn't even talk to my wife about me. It was like he was in a rush. He told something to the nurse and bolted out. I still don't know anything. Find someone else.

I saw Dr. Tarshis a couple of weeks ago. My experience was nothing to write home about. He came across as pompous, arrogant and in a hurry. He probably spent less than 90 seconds with me, even though my issue was somewhat complex! Please avoid this GI doctor and use someone else if you can.

I came to Dr. Tarshis fearing my condition was serious. He listened to my anxiety reassured me there was nothing to worry about and he was right! I highly recommend him.
