Dr. Alexandru Anastase, MD

I’ve waited so long to post this. Maybe our story will help someone. I described in detail in my other feedback what happened to my husband at Select Rehab, but decided to leave a special feedback for the doctor who left a horrible mark on us, Dr. Anastase. When the Rehab neglected my husband’s neck and 10 days later found an erosion, I asked to meet with Dr. Anastase in person to talk about it. I was upset. His highness refused. You would think, since we were pretty much partially paying his salary, and since it’s his and his nurses fault my husband got an erosion in the first place, he would find the time, meet in person and apologize. But no, never happened. He called at his convenience. When I expressed my great concern over the phone, I was frustrated of course, Dr. Anastase cut me off saying “so we missed it, it happened, why dwell on it, we found it now and will take care of it”. He was irritated I kept pounding on it and sounded like I was complaining about a scratch. Not ‘I… am sorry’ even on the phone. I didn’t want him to be near my husband again after that. During my husband’s therapies, I told Dr. Anastase not once that I wanted my husband to be off oxygen, or at least on the lowest setting when we go home, I kept asking to work with him as hard as possible, no matter how many weeks it was going to take. I asked him to fight insurance, which is what they promise you when you get there anyway. But Dr. Anastase said that they cloud ship my husband to the nursing home if we can’t handle oxygen tanks at home. I was so livid when heard ‘nursing home’, I told him over my dead body. I told him that he needed to do his job, continue therapies with my husband and push insurance for more time. He hated my persistence and bluntness. It’s bad enough he missed the wound, acted careless about it and didn’t feel like apologizing. But as I found out, he dared to trash me in his notes? Called me rude, overbearing (I was too involved in my husband’s care for his taste), accused me in focusing on the negative and not listening recommendations, judged me, painted me as bad spouse because I couldn't show up there on command, when they told me. I was there for 8-10 hours every day already, I did what I could! And to make even that worse, he lied and twisted my words from our conversations. I have never said anything about “bodybuilding”. I only told him that my husband was at the gym every morning until the hospital, and three LA Fitness locations and members can prove it. What a liar. He twisted information about the formula, making it sound like I made my husband sick? The audacity. That’s not how I requested it. I requested to increase, but not in one day. The goal was 80, but eventually. Who knew that by the time one nurse told the other, and that one told the dietician, and the dietitian squeezed her own story out of it, the broken telephone style - my request would be so twisted that they would increase it three times in one day and hit 80 by the sundown? Of course he got sick. No one listened, there was no direct line to anyone at that place, I had to be connected, leave voicemails, relay messages through front desk, wait for a call back, no wonder all my requests got so screwed up. I am filing a complaint against that “doctor”. Who gave him the right to trash patients’ spouses like that. Dr. Anastase is cocky, disrespectful, condescending individual who loves to hear the sound of his own voice disregarding and discarding anyone who dares to speak up. There is a reason he is not practicing at any leading hospital, he wouldn’t survive there. But at the Rehab, he can float around hallways, act important and still make good money off patients.
