Dr. Alfio Carroccio, MD

Dr. Carroccio nearly killed me with his negligence. I showed up at my appt with extreme chest pain in addition to the leg pain for which my ortho referred me to Dr. C, a vascular specialist, to rule out a clot, “textbook symptoms of pulmonary embolism (PE)" according to my primary care provider (PCP) and every one of the 10+ ER doc's who spoke to me in the ensuing 48 hours. Damian, his PA, was initially dismissive of my leg pain and spent 15 minutes trying to convince me to go home and “try rest and massage”. Even after finding the clot in my leg, despite being the expert, Dr. C. failed to diagnose the PE. My PCP followed up with Dr. C and was told there is no way the clot they found could be associated with a PE. Fast forward 24 hours - I had extreme chest pain and fainted in the car – I called Dr. C’s office and asked if I should go to the ER and what else they might do if it were a PE, Damian said "nothing". I should go take tylenol and he "would not waste the limited supply of the… CT dyes on a patient like me"... On the one year anniversary of my PE, I feel extremely lucky and wanted to caution others.

Made me feel as if my case was important despite an extremely full waiting room and surgery schedule. Puts you at ease and is encouraging while pulling no punches.. Exudes confidence and trust.
