More about Dr. Alice Lim
I am a pediatrician specializing in child development. Most people are not familiar with this pediatric subspecialty, so I would like to tell you a little about it. After my residency in general pediatrics, I completed a three-year fellowship in the subspecialty of developmental-behavioral pediatrics at the Department of Pediatrics in the Child Development Division at UCLA. I have expertise in the diagnosis of developmental disabilities and in working with families to establish intervention services for children with developmental needs. If you have concerns about your child's development, learning, or behavior, you can talk to your primary physician to consider a referral to me. I see children ages 0 to 5. Biography I became a physician because I have a passion for helping people. I specialize in developmental pediatrics so that I can better advocate for children with developmental disabilities or needs. I enjoy working with children outside pediatrics as well, such as in community service instructing children. I am a full-time physician and a mother. This helps me to better understand the difficulties and struggles as well as the joys that families encounter in their day-to-day lives. After work, I enjoy spending time with my family. Sometimes it's not easy to find the time to do a lot with my child after work, but I always set aside "special" or "fun" time with my daughter for 15-20 minutes, and we do something such as play a simple board game, chase, or hide and seek. We enjoy outdoor activities such as bicycling, swimming, roller skating, and tennis. About my practice I see patients for child development consultations at Kaiser Permanente in Panorama City. I enjoy the opportunity to follow some of the patients on an ongoing basis. I work in a team model with social workers, the autism coordinator, and psychologists. I have a very busy practice, but I enjoy working hard in order to be as available to the patients as I can be. Many of the families whom I see encounter much stress and many obstacles in their lives, and I am here to help address their needs and concerns as well as to help alleviate their hardships. How I thrive I am grateful to be able to work at Kaiser Permanente helping people and working with fabulous colleagues who are compassionate, hardworking, and dependable. Spirituality is an important part of my life. My family is a priority and an important source of strength and support. I try to keep healthy by eating well and exercising.
