Dr. Allan Akerman

Horrible doctor! Very bad bedside manner! he talked about inapproriate things in front of my teen daughter and made me very uncomfortable! Do not recommend!

I changed my OB doctor midway through my pregnancy only because Dr akermann made me feel quite uncomfortable with his bedside manner. He often spoke to me and my husband sarcastically, talking down to use if we asked more than a few questions during my appointments. He seemed bothered that I even had questions. Why accept new patients if you don’t want to speak and interact with them?

Dr Akerman was my Doctor for my second pregnancy and delivered my daughter recently. I had battled gestational diabetes this pregnancy and I also found out that my cervix was extremely narrow and tipped so a natural delivery would be nearly impossible. Dr. Akerman said that since I had controlled my diabetes we could still try for a natural delivery if that's what I wanted however he did recommend a C-section to lower risks. I did not want to go against medical advice but I was extremely apprehensive about having another one. My first pregnancy 4 years before required an emergency C-section where the medication wore off halfway through the procedure and I experienced and felt everything so I was extremely traumatized. Dr. Akerman spent the time going through my concerns and reassured me that this was a completely different pregnancy and that the issues I had with my first delivery were circumstantial. I decided to go with his advice after his reassurance and I'm glad I did. My… C-section with him was a completely different experience. It went incredibly quick and smoothly and I was beyond relieved. Another Plus- The staff here at his clinic are super friendly and courteous, Kim and Jennifer are great and will take care of you. I highly Recommend this doctor and staff if you're having a baby.

He is the absolute BEST!.. I've been reading reviews on him and most people find his sense of humor not so humerus, but that is just his personality i guess. He is very easy going he knows what he is doing, he likes to please his patients.

A lot of these reviews I would agree with. Akerman is not the nicest man alive. He is not mean though, and he is exceptionally well trained, and did a procedure a previous Gynecologist refused to do. There was a post - op infection but an antibiotic cured it fast. Akerman did what another doc with over 30 yrs experience could not, and would not do. So bottom line is would we see him again? In a heart beat, his advanced training made a big difference... Oh his staff is made up of morons though so just expect it...

This man is a butcher. He should not be putting his hands on anyone, especially women. He is negligent and unprofessional. I could put up with his bedside manner, or lack there of, but nothing accounts for simply treating woman like livestock in an assembly line all while making a myriad of surgical mistakes along the way. Do yourself a favor and pick anyone else.

Dr Akerman delivered my first baby, and this is my second pregnancy. After hearing some bad reviews about him (after my first baby), and my friend not having the same great experience that I did with my first one....I was convinced through them that I should try out another doctor. I did, and after 2 visits, I was very disappointed with the new doc. I went back to Dr Akerman, and after explaining why I seeked another opinion, he was TOTALLY fine with it, but to our suprise we found out that my baby had a 'double bubble' and now I'm in the process of having tests done. THANK YOU DR AKERMAN, b/c if it wasnt for him...I would still be waiting for my 1 month routine check up-not knowing anything. HIGHLY RECOMMEND him!!!!

I didn't have insurance when I found out I was pregnant and found Dr. Akerman through Medicare. I felt comfortable right off the 1st visit. Great sense of humor, down to earth, welcoming, knowledgeable...feels like a family. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. My inlaws, my sister, my parents, my husband and I loved him through our visits upto the day of delivery. I had a C section because my baby girls heart rate was dropping and even though I was scared he talked me through EVERYTHING they were going to do and doing. I had a wonderful experience for my 1st pregnancy that my friend is now having her 1st baby and is using him as her OB/GYN. I Highly recommend.

I love his fight for his patience! Having had 3 miscarriages, no one can say better than I how wonderful his bedside manner is. He is compassionate and patient. Now I have a 2 year old bouncing baby boy! His tenacity and expertise is appreciated!! To those that don't like to wait that extra 10 minutes... what if it was you on the other side of the door?
