Dr. Amita Manish Upadhyay, MD

My daughter has been seeing Dr Upadhyay for over 6 or 7 years. She has been the absolute best. My daughter saw a number of doctors before but didn't really feel like her concerns were being addressed or listened to until we got an appointment with Dr. Upadhyay. We recently went through TMS which was extremely helpful. I have noticed her being more upbeat than she was prior to trying TMS. The only negative I can say is we are moving to another state and will really miss Dr. Upadhyay and Jackie!

I have taken my 13 year old daughter who has depression or BPD and Dr is great with me and seems to read my daughter at her worst but my daughter doesn't like her, I think because the doc and I get along well, so my daughter doesn't open up much Let's face it though, prescribing is all they can do My daughter gained 40+ lbs on the mess but still the mess keep going up

Dr. Upadhyay is a wonderful doctor overall. Not only does she listen but she listens to what you say, what your parents feel, your body language, and assess the overall situation, taking everything into account and evaluates it quickly. She does not want to drug you to drug you and doesn't want to put on a lot of meds but she does understand that you are there for a reason and have tried other things so obviously need meds. She is really good about listening to not only waht you think but talking to your parents and making sure it is what you both want and something that everyone can agree upon. She makes sure you know exactly what you are taking, what it will do, how it works, any side effects, and so forth. She only puts you on medicines that she knows are clinically proven to be safe and will not recommend meds that she has not yet researched or heard of or so forth. She prefers to keep you on low doses and not to go above the recommended dose based on your age and weight but… understands that sometimes that does not always work. Overall, she is a very easy doctor to talk to, she listens, accurate diagnosis, sometimes takes a little bit longer than one may like but she wants to take things slow (like when going up on the meds but knows when you need it versus when you are in an unusual situation ect.) but she is accurate, and compassionate, and overall very understanding. Great for kids and especially for more conservative families (who do not want to use a ton of medicine unless they have to being the definition of conservative that is being used here anyway). I would certainly recommend her for almost any child. The only problem is she does have a slight accent but she tries and does an excellent job to pronunciate everything. I rarely have a problem understanding, and often the second time I understand what she is saying. She is patient. And indifferent towards your opinions, she will not be biased in anyway towards your beliefs, religion, ect. She is great at her job!
