Dr. Amy Louise Sanders Bekanich, MD

Dr. Bekanich has had the opportunity to live in many places and be exposed to a variety of cultures. This has given her a diverse perspective concerning the various needs of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery patients. After graduating magna cum laude from Westminster College, Dr. Bekanich moved to St. Louis, MO, where she participated in cutting-edge research at Washington University. Her studies then took her to Portland, OR, where she attended medical school at Oregon Health and Sciences University. During medical school, Dr. Bekanich developed strong interests in women's health and leadership and decided to apply those interests to the practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery. She was awarded a position at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where she studied all aspects of plastic surgery. Notably, she had the opportunity to be part of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, one of the few National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Centers with a reputation for excellence in …breast cancer treatment and research. After completing her residency, Dr. Bekanich traveled to Miami, FL, where her focus on cosmetic surgery was established. She completed a fellowship in Miami Beach with renowned cosmetic plastic surgeon Michael Salzhauer. During her training, Dr. Bekanich recognized that fat grafting can be a transformative process for both cosmetic and reconstructive patients. This interest took her to the Miami Breast Center to study as a fellow and associate physician under Dr. Roger Khouri, an internationally recognized pioneer in fat grafting.
