Dr. Anastasia Bakoulis, DO

My daughter WAS a patient of Dr. Bakoulis. She has a cardiac history including prior open chest surgery for corrected transposition of the great vessels, pacer/aicd and stroke history with subsequent seizures. Because of this history, relatively simple ailments can become quite serious in a short period of time. Dr Bakoulis treated my daughter several months back for breast infection that needed to be drained and antibiotics to be prescribed. This infection returned and was on her left breast in very close proximity to her pacer implant. It was red, swollen and very painful. Dr. Bakoulis was contacted, but did not respond that day. The following day I contacted her office and spoke to her nurse, who informed me she would personally contact Dr. Bakoulis and would call me back by the end of that day. Never heard back from anyone. This is now 3 days with no response. We had to contact our daughter's cardiologist who was incensed at the total lack of care and very concerned that the… infection would make contact with her pacer and travel down the wires directly to her heart.He arranged for an infectious disease doctor and surgeon from Northwell health to immediately treat my daughter. I do not care what Stony Brook says in response to this post. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason for this total lack of care, concern and obligation. It is just SHAMEFUL.

I went to Dr. Bakoulis to discuss my options after my positive results for PALB2. She listened and gave advice and helped to guide me through on what was best for me and was supportive of whatever decision I came to. I had the preventative bilateral mastectomy and her kindness is matched by her skills as a surgeon. Other doctors who have seen me since are always amazed by her work. Dr. Bakoulis takes the time to listen, explain and not make you feel rushed. I am beyond grateful I found myself in her care and would recommend her to anyone in need.

I cannot say enough about Dr Bakoulis she made my experience a lot easier very caring and kind she explains everything listens to every question you have for her and answered quickly she makes you feel very comfortable it’s like your going to visit with your best friend , I was not scared going into surgery because I knew I was In good hands she was chosen for me and omg I was blessed to have her as my surgeon the experience at the Carol Baldwin center was amazing the Staff is so wonderful I am forever grateful that I had Dr Bakoulis as my surgeon.

I will keep this short and sweet! Dr. B is the best. Her bedside manners along with her vast wealth of intelligence and thoroughness throughout this process has been phenomenal and continues to be.

Dr. Bakoulis is highly skilled, super concerned, warm, and supportive. You couldn't find a better surgeon and physician. She listens! She is now at Stony Brook Hospital on Long Island in the Carol Baldwin Breast Center. Worth the trip. She is really wonderful.
