Dr. Andrew Boyle is a cardiologist who specializes in coronary artery disease at the UCSF Heart and Vascular Center. A trained interventional cardiology, Boyle performs diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterizations, coronary artery angioplasty and stenting. In addition to caring for patients, he is actively involved in research studying adult stem cell therapies for heart disease and novel imaging methods in the cardiac catheterization lab. Boyle grew up in Australia, where he earned his medical degree at Monash University. He completed an internship, residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology at St. Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. In 2002, he received board certification in internal medicine and cardiology from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. During his training, Boyle became interested in developing new techniques, particularly stem cell therapies, to prevent and treat the development of heart failure in patients after a heart attack. Boyle also completed a doctorate degree at The University of Melbourne and Columbia University, New York. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he continued his studies on stem cell therapeutics.
