More about Dr. Andrew Wells Moulton

Dr. Moulton started his career serving for nine years as faculty of New York Medical College. There he trained medical students, orthopedic residents and the spine surgery fellows from the highest ranked orthopedic hospital, the Hospital for Special Surgery. This included responsibilities for all aspect of spinal care, from instruction on gross anatomy, to guiding research programs, to mentoring spinal surgery fellows in treating spinal trauma and scoliosis. He led the spinal trauma unit at a level one trauma center at Westchester Medical Center and the pediatric scoliosis clinic at Marie Fareri Children’s Hospital.

Another passion of Dr. Moulton’s is his work as the founder and director of one of the largest childhood scoliosis nonprofits in the world, the Butterfly Foundation. Working with the World Spine Organization, their teams have treated over six hundred severe spinal deformities in the process of teaching surgeons in several developing countries how to care for their own patients.

Dr. Moulton continues to see himself as a teacher in his daily work, helping his patients understand their condition and options. He has particular interest in minimally invasive surgery, serving as an advisor for many innovative technologies. This approach and set of skills allow him to offer the best choices for each individual to achieve their goals and recover quickly.
