I have been a patient of Dr. McCain for over a decade & have received excellent care. I shutter to think what condition I would be in if I wasn't seeing her. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

SUPER DOCTOR

I actually saw "Dr." McCain a couple of years ago. At the time, I had already been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, and she was my current rheumy. After experiencing odd/severe pain in 2 of my fingernails/fingers, "Dr." McCain requested I see a neurologist. I did, and brought the report back to her for her review. She took one look at it, and threw it down on the stool sitting next to me, and said dismissively, "I don't agree with that." I had been experiencing such pain in my fingers/fingernails, and started crying, in part just to vent my exhaustion and frustration. She said, extremely flippantly, "You need to get over it". My husband, who was with me, and myself, were shocked. I responded, very directly, "You need to be very careful about how you say that to me. You have no idea what I've been going through." Needless to say, after leaving that appointment, I never went back. I went on to find another rheumy who was compassionate and who listened, and since that time, have not only successfully managed my AS, but gotten involved in highly competitive sports (Kickboxing, The Tough Mudder, Ironman, and Race For The Cure). This woman is a joke, and gives the medical profession, especially the field of rheumatology, a bad name.

It seems that Dr. McCain is only interested in diseases in which she receives money for research. Ran blood tests (no x-rays!)and conducted a fairly thorough physical exam. HLA-B27 came back negative for AS. Was advised I had Osteoarthritis and Diffuse Idiopathic Skeletal Hyperostosis (I was in my 40's at the time and had been previously diagnosed with DISH in my early 40's) and said there was nothing she could do for me. Hmmmmm.Finally found a GOOD Rheumatologist who advised HLA-B27 negative is not an instant disqualifier for Ankylosing Spondylitis. He was more thorough with x-rays and acquiring records from previous Rheumatologists, Pulmonologists, and Primary Care physicians. Voila...Ankylosing Spondylitis identified after 10+ years of searching Doctors!

I have been going to Dr McCain for a number of years. She and the whole staff are very professional and caring. I never felt rushed as she tried to listen to and evaluate all of my "problems". Would I recommend her to others? Yes! I already have.

Unlike many specialists, McCain wants to look at the whole picture, spotting some correlations that help with diagnoses. She's wonderful...wish I could get her to be my primary.

Dr. McCain is an excellent diagnostician.
