Dr. Anjali Sharma, MD

My very first memory of becoming a Pediatrician was while working as an intern in a Pediatric tertiary care center in New Delhi, India. We had a designated Neonatal Tetanus ward, as many neonates in India are born with tetanus due to unhygienic practices during childbirth. The care of these babies was challenging but rewarding as they were little warriors trying to live through this crippling condition. During my first year as a Pediatric Intern in Chicago, I felt the same way about all the Pediatric Hematology-Oncology patients who also shared the same courage and strength that the newborn babies did in India, and also the will to survive. I completed my Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship at Stanford University and decided to stay in the beautiful SF Bay area. I have always wanted to be a part of a group which focused on excellent clinical care and am proud to have joined Kaiser Permanente. I have a special interest in Pediatric Bone/Stem cell transplantation and also in …providing follow up of the long term cancer survivors in our clinical practice. Recently, after living in California for 5 years, I have developed another special interest in Pediatric Melanoma patients. I am a member of the Childrens Oncology Group (COG) and other organizations such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Society of Hematology, The American Society of Oncology, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and the International Society of Pediatric Oncology.
