Dr. Anne Marie Dietrich, MD

Dr. Dietrich clearly cares about her patients. She listens carefully and takes her time to understand your specific challenges. She keeps current on the latest research and tailors her treatments accordingly I have been a patient for nearly 6 years and recently moved across the country - so I appreciate her quality care even more!

Several years ago, I was a patient of Dr. Dietrich. I saw her weekly for about nine months. I found her to be devoid of anything I could call â??empathy.â?? She appeared, furthermore, to possess nothing along the lines of that basic ingredient -- curiosity -- which therapists appear to need when dealing with other human beings. (She does appear to animate more when financial matters are at hand.) If other patients find her to possess much empathy or curiosity, I can have but two conclusions: One, which I doubt, is that she has grown in her capacities as a therapist; The other is that she is all too willing to maintain a cold distance (likely deluding herself that this constitutes some sort of â??professionalism") from patients she simply does not like. I am inclined to see the latter as the greater possibility. My guess is that she is less comfortable with some male patients and is willing to be disdainful of them. When pressed about issues with which she feels any discomfort,… she can be relied upon always to turn her attention and conversation onto her own feelings and dislikes -- hardly a helpful therapeutic strategy when she is the doctor and the other person is paying the money. She may need to do more psychoanalytic work herself, but, as her narrowness and possible misandry may extend from an unhealthy level of narcissism, this may be impossible. If any who read this have had similar reactions to this doctor, fear not, the frustrations are most likely not your fault. Do not waste your time and frustrate yourself. You are simply best advised to go to another therapist.

Dr. Dietrich spends the kind of time you need and listens to what you have to say in order to assist with medication and symptom management. She has also been there in crisis as well as for routine care. I have appreciated her approach to adjusting medications and addressing my concerns as well as the enlightening incites to ongoing care

It may take a few weeks to get an appointment but Dr. Dietrich is a highly skilled and compassionate psychiatrist. She is up to date with the latest research and treatments but conservative in her approach. Her caring and concern are obvious in every thing she does.

This is a one person office so there was no waiting time. Getting the appointment wasn't too bad. The appointment itself wasn't too bad. Diagnosis was okay. BUT follow up, returning phone calls or replying to emails is abysmal. I felt rushed through the appointment and did not have a chance to ask all my questions regarding the diagnosis. My phone calls and emails with my couple of remaining questions went unanswered. Overall I feel disappointed.

Dr. Dietrich is professional and caring. She is very knowledgeable about conditions (depression, ADHD, and anxiety) and both medical and non-medical methods of treatment. She is open to suggestions and changing medications when necessary. Her gentle, respectful, intelligent approach is quite a change from other psychiatrists.
