Dr Patterson has helped me enormously

I did not have a positive experience with Dr. Patterson as I felt unheard and misunderstood. I also felt more vulnerable as a result.

Dr. Patterson is a genius with prescribing the correct medications. I have struggled with depression and anxiety my whole life, and it wasn't until I started seeing Dr. Patterson in 2005 that I finally started feeling better. He is kind, caring and understanding. He also challenges me when he thinks I could be doing better, and he looks for ways to help me improve myself in addition to taking medication. I would not be where I am today without him, and I am so grateful that Presbyterian Hospital recommended him in 15 years ago.

I wouldn’t call Anthony Patterson a doctor. My most recent MD and Psychiatrist was a teaching doctor at Columbia University, and she made (dr) if you’d call him that, I’d prefer Mr. Patterson seem like an incompetent fool. He is overweight, disorganized, and out of touch of 21st century medicine.

My son was diagnosed with bipolar 2 years ago at the age of 19. He's done very well in staying on his medications but then recently, for the first time, decided to go without and has lied to me and Dr. Patterson as he threw out his prescription. I brought him in immediately as I could see my son was in a mania state and needed to get back on the meds that were helping him so much. Dr. Patterson was very combative with my son. (I'm part of my son's therapy and medicine management). He wanted my son to admit he needed the meds but again, he was in full mania state and did tell him if he, the doctor feels he needs them, then he'll take them, but that was not good enough. Instead he sends us home without the medicine and told my son to think on his actions and scheduled another appointment for Monday. We get there Monday and Dr. Patterson says he does not want me in the room. Ok fine. After the session was over, he gave my son a paper of different medications and refused to refill his mood… stabilizer medication all because his pride was hurt. Not sure what kind of psychiatrist intentionally refuses a bipolar patient his meds, especially when he and his MOTHER are there asking for them but again, his pride was hurt, he treated us very rudely and basically threw his hands up in the air and said he's done. Now I'm left with a son who is slowly going into psychosis because of this man refusing to help him a week ago. STAY AWAY HE ONLY WANTS YOUR MONEY.

I enjoy seeing Dr. Patterson because he involves me in my care. Instead of just prescribing, I am able to come to him with an idea for my care and share my opinions on things. As a result, I am feeling much better.

I paid for my daughter n law to see Dr Patterson for the past year and she is in worse shape now than she was before seeing him. I called his assistant a week ago letting them know my daughter n law wasn’t doing well. They never followed up with her or my son. Dr Patterson gave her a prescription for adderall on top of lithium and whatever else he prescribed for her. She hasn’t slept for 4 days because Of him giving her adderall and she had to be committed the other day. The ER doctor did not agree with Patterson for giving her adderall. Hope I can find a better psychiatrist for her.
