Dr. Anthony Wayne Stephens, MD

This physician demonstrated a shocking lack of transparency, urgency, and compassion. For over a year, he told us my mother had “spots” and repeatedly claimed he couldn’t find the “origin” of her cancer — all while continuing to administer extremely costly treatments that did nothing to address the reality of her condition. He never gave us a clear answer, never acknowledged the severity, and led us to believe there was still time. We didn’t find out she had advanced lung cancer until a month before she died — and only because an ER doctor finally told us the truth. By then, it had already spread aggressively to her brain, spine, bones, and lungs. She had weeks left, and we had been misled for months. We were robbed of the chance to prepare. I only had four days with her before she passed. This wasn’t just medical failure — this was a devastating betrayal of trust. His actions, or lack thereof, stole critical time from our family. Time we can never get back. He stole my mother from… me, and that is unforgivable. If this review is removed, I will continue reposting it. Families need to know the truth. Patients deserve better. We deserved better.

The first time I met Dr. Stephen's he had already went over my records and reached out to a thoracic surgeon who was able to remove a tumor others said was inoperable. Dr. Stephen's is the kindest, most compassionate doctor I have ever met.

I was disappointed by my appointment. He seemed less than up to date on the newest treatments for my cancer. Felt rushed. He never even laid a hand on me to exam me. Would see someone else.

My father had prostrate cancer for years. He recently went in his psa was down to zero but he told dr Stephens he had been seeing flickering lights like hallucinations out if his right eye. Dr Stephens sluffed it off saying hum I don’t know what that could be! When my father told ME about what he was seeing I immediately made an appointment with our family dr who immediately got him in fir a mri... finding out he had stage four brain cancer and lived only eight weeks. I would think an oncologist would be proactive to do testing when a cancer patient says they see flickering lights out their eye??

My father was in the hospital and Dr. Stephens told him and my mom his version of treatment and rushed it passed my father's life long physician when my dad was in no state to think clearly and my mom was incapacitated with her own health issues. Surgery was an option and he will not give his patients that option due to the fact he and his practice only deal in chemo and radiology. Surgery could have removed one spot of cancer my dad had and instead Stephens made sure he got his money to do it his way allowing my father's cancer to metastasize. He will not question any concerns with your chemo or radiation that are out of the normal either. There were many issues that were questionable with my dad's chemo treatment. My family was told he is the top oncologist in our area but, truth is he will NOT tell you of any treatment that he cannot provide and will say that what he can do is the best route. On your first chemo treatment be prepared to go into a private room so they can show you… the paperwork where they drain your insurance so you have nothing left when he is done. In my opinion, from his comments is,v that his idea is, if you get cancer anywhere, you will die of it someday anyway. Also, I believe he is not out to save anyone just to keep money coming into his pocket, and to appear to do what he can. Also, if he gets lucky and saves a few then it's just great public relations for him and his office!!!! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr Stephens is a caring person, which makes him a great doctor. Have been a patient for approx 10 yrs. wouldn't go to any other oncologist.
