A rheumatologist is a physician who has received extensive training in diagnosing and treating rheumatic conditions. Rheumatic conditions involve the joints, soft tissues, autoimmune system, vascular system, and connective tissues.
Some of the conditions that rheumatologists treat are rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, sarcoidosis, vasculitis, and lupus. These are all conditions that involve a lot of pain and make mobility difficult. Rheumatologists use medications, such as analgesics, NSAIDs, steroids, DMARDs, infliximab, and adalimumab, as well as occupational therapy, in order to decrease pain and improve a patient's quality of life.
- Internal Medicine
An internist is a physician who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of conditions that affect the adult population—both acute and chronic.
These doctors are often who adults see as their primary physicians because they treat a broad range of illnesses that do not require surgical or specialist interventions. They also work to help a patient maintain optimal health in order to prevent the onset of disease.
In addition to treating the common cold and flu, internists also treat chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.

Most uncaring, self obsessed NARCISSIST female doctor ever. Does not know her stuff, is in a hurry always, tries to wing it every time. Is only interested in infusions and testing that she she makes big bucks out of. Not interested in helping the patient in anyway. A SHAME in the name of a Doctor! Run away from her!
I have seen Dr Swarup for over 15 years I did see another one but only because my company had changed insurances and Dr Swarup didn't accept that insurance. I had changed companies that allowed me to go back to her. Needless to say I did. I was diagnosed with FYBROMYALGIA in 1983, long before very many doctors knew much about it. Most doctors said the pain was "all in my head". I was referred to Dr Swarup & she was able to help relieve most of my pain. She has since diagnosed Osteoarthritis and RA. I also have CHF, COPD, CKD stage 3, ASTHMA & EMPHESEMA so my treatment can sometimes get complicated. I am fortunate to have Dr Swarup because she HAS ALWAYS treated me with understanding and compassion and helped me work thru increasing pain and depression. She & all of the staff in the Mesa office are terrific!
I have seen Dr. Swarup and her PA's for over 5 years, for several of those years, Dr. Swarup gave me the impression that she did not believe me regarding my pain. She/they have tried me on a multitude of medicines, injections, infusions, pills none lasted more than 9 months, finally on my last visit the PA put her hands up and said "I do not know what to do for you, maybe you have fibromyalgia, could be caused by bad sleep habits, here take Lyrica." I do not have bad sleep habits. I went to get a 2nd opinion. Well after a 2nd opinion, I indeed have RA, through various tests that were conducted it was determined, I hopefully will be on the right treatment.
Run away from here. MANIPULATIVE , selfish , Greedy. Shame in the name of a Doctor. Will do test and give injections with little results .Has a money making business. Not empathetic or caring at all. Has not seen bad times yet !! she thinks she will never get old !!
