Dr. Aristotle John Damianos, MD

After seeing this person for 3 years I gave up on him. On multiple occasions my appointment was cancelled a couple days before. No big deal but then I could only reschedule 3 months out. Ordered the wrong test and then doubled down on it being the right test and refusing to order the correct one. SIBO tests are not done with lactose its lactulose. Funny thing is the next appointment he mentioned testing with lactulose when he forgot what he ordered the previous test. Did not understand SIBO often requires multiple rounds of antibiotics and for that matter multiple antibiotics. Most appointments were contradictory to the previous. Basically the appointments are you need another colonoscopy and youll be on PPI's for life with IBS. Made several disparaging comments about young women not accepting his IBS diagnosis. Perhaps its his lack of knowledge on anything current.

I googled this doctor out of curiosity. I've never forgotten his name because of his horrible "medical treatment" I received nearly a decade ago. I saw the review from last year and just had to add my own because it was so similar. I can't believe he is still out there doing this to people. I can picture him getting sued left and right, but apparently not? This doctor could have seriously caused me harm with his negligence. I almost wrote a letter to his practice years ago - I never did and wish I had. I saw Dr. Damianos over 9 years ago with a lot of symptoms (IBS complaints, feeling of fluid chugging up throat, croaking noises in throat/esophagus, etc.) I had been through many doctors who just didn't know how to treat me, and I wasn't responding to different GI meds. Immediately upon seeing me, without even talking to me, he told me that he had a hunch that this was all in my head. YES, there are doctors that actually say it's all in your head. He said a lot of people with IBS… "imagine" they have reflux symptoms, and he believes they are experiencing it, but it isn't real. I didn't have acid reflux because I didn't respond to anti-reflux medication. He ruled out any testing because tests were "uncomfortable" for people with IBS, he ruled out reflux surgery because it's not successful (a complete lie), and sent me on my way, saying there was nothing he could do for me. In a last ditch effort, I went to a hospital in Boston, where they performed an endoscopy and a 24 hour esophageal ph test. What did they find? Acid reflux. Through the roof. Very, very high demeester score. I had the nissen fundoplication and improved immensely. I was later diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus - in my early twenties. This is quite bad; it's far more common in older adults, after decades of reflux. My reflux only started 3 years prior. If I had listened to this doctor, and I never got the proper treatment, I would have been suffering with severe GERD and WORSENING with Barrett's Esophagus for years, greatly increasing my chances of esophageal cancer. Seriously, this doctor could have given me cancer because he was so incompetent, cold, and dismissive. STAY FAR AWAY. Especially if you have IBS, because he won't take you seriously. Do yourself a favor - see one of the doctors in Boston, they actually care and know what they are doing. And never, ever put up with being told your symptoms are "in your head." That translates to a doctor that is lazy, ignorant, or both.

Dr D is caring, compassionate and spot on with his diagnosis and treatment. Excellent dr.

First let me start by saying I have had numerous issues with my stomach, I recently changed jobs and therefore had to change my doctors. I was looking for a well qualified specialist that was in network with my insurance. I came across Dr. Damianos. I read all the reviews and all the awards he has won. I called to make an appointment and amazingly he was able to see me in 2 days. I thought great. Well today was the first appointment. I was left shocked, dumbfounded and completely caught off guard. He asked me what was going on and I told him. When I told him that I was diagnosed with SIBO, he rolled his eyes and asked who gave you that diagnosis? I proceeded to state that I was even trying the gluten free way of eating, to that he said and I quote, " yea that doesn't work, go home and eat some bread" Upon examining me, pushing on my belly, which was tender he proceeded to tell me that if I had anything REALLY wrong with me that "touching my skin" would not have hurt. Then he… said....it's all in your head...I couldn't believe that he uttered those words. No I am not kidding that is what he said. Furthermore he stated that he would do a scope on me, but "I won't find anything" because nothing is wrong with you. Never in my life have I been spoken to in such a manner. My PCP called me later that day to check on me, I told them what he said and the nurse was shocked. So much for bedside manner. Needless to say I will not be having the scope done, nor will I ever go back to him or recommend him to anyone. BEWARE...Don't go to this doctor if you don't want to be told it's all in your HEAD!!!!!
