Dr. Arun Kumar Movva, MD

I have visited Dr. Movva twice for diagnosis and treatment for severe osteoporosis. He was always kind, professional and knowledgeable.

Dr Movva was extremely rude to me. Yelled at me when I asked questions - saying he doesn't have time to answer them. And if I demanded answers that I would have to schedule a separate visit just to get them answered. Told me if I needed answers that I should checked the internet to get them. Can't tell you how many tears I shed once I left his office. Once he just got up and left the room with no explanation. I did hear from a friend (female) who brought her husband with her - Movva got up and left the room and the husband got up and went to find him telling him his wife didn't get all the answers she needed and made him go back into the room. I would rather drive to Iowa City or even Des Moines if I ever needed to she an endo again.

I would give him 0 stars, if possible. Like other reviewers have said, Dr. Movva would ask me questions, but not listen to my answers. It all seemed like a bit of a confrontation, which is an experience I've never had with a doctor. He ordered labs (my GP did send me there with two sets of results that he ordered, showing deficiencies). No problem...I understood that Dr. Movva might want his own results, or order additional testing. The nurse called and left a voicemail a few days later saying Dr. Movva said my numbers are normal, and he won't need to see me again. BUT WHAT ABOUT MY SYMPTOMS, AND THE PREVIOUS LAB RESULTS??? And unfortunately, Cedar Rapids doesn't have an abundance of Endocrinologists. Save yourself the frustration and heartache, and look in Iowa City, instead. That's what I'm doing.

Dr. Movva spent a lot of time with us and asked many times if we had any questions. I went with a list of questions and he answered all of them. He ordered more lab tests. I use mychart and he is quick to respond to questions through email. His nurse was very informative and helpful. Overall very good experience.

The times we have gone to go visit dr movva he has been very rude. He doesnt let us explain to him what i feel. I have asked him to fill out paper work for my job so i dont get counted against for not going. I would not recomend him to anyone!

Dr. Movva had no clue on how to diagnose my fluctuating testosterone levels and finally he decided to "wait another year". I dropped him.

Agree with reviews stating very bad doctor. Staff most unprofessional I have dealt with. Stated don't call us we will call you. As summing they meant never, cause they never did. Will never return to this doctor.

Went to this doctor for thyroid issues. Appt. was scheduled for 9:30, got there a little past 9:00 to fill out paperwork, had no paperwork to fill out, so waited until 9:45 to be taken back to an exam room, plus another 20 minutes before he came in to see me, despite the fact that I was his first patient of the day. He just barely glanced at the test results and history my GP had sent over before he began asking questions he often didn't let me answer before going on to the next question. He informed me that there was no way I could have an allergic reaction to the synthetic thyroid hormones and there was also no way I could still feel hypothyroid if my blood tests showed normal, basically belitting me for knowing what was going on with my body. I had just been put on NP Thyroid by my GP the week prior to this visit and Dr. Movva had to google it to find out what it was, he'd never heard of it, even though NP has been out for over a year. He informed me that he did not believe in… the natural hormone pills, they were not titrated correctly, then proceeded to prescribe a dosage of Levoxyl that was in no way equivalent to what I was taking in the NP Thyroid...he just assumed that 88mcgs of the Levoxyl was equivalent to the 90mgs of NP I was on, and there is a HUGE difference in the grains. He said he would not see me or run any tests until I'd been on that dose of Levoxyl for 6 weeks, then left the room, and gee for being a new patient, he was only in with me for 15 minutes. His nurse Carissa came in and had an extremely rude and superior attitude, acting like I was a small child that needed to be told what to do as I was sent on my way with the new scrip for Levoxyl. After a week of being on it, I was so hypothyroid I literally could not function AT ALL, so I went back on the NP and I'm doing fine now. Given the all around negative attitude of both the doctor and the staff, along with the fact that he seriously under-dosed me on a medication I need to survive, I will not be returning to him and I don't recommend him to anyone.

The office staff/nurses will straight up lie to you about statuses of . It is very clear that a particular pharmaceutical rep has taken care of them because during my first visit the Dr quoted the entire brochure, but I shrugged it off to its not a new discovery. However, when it came to the time for the "pre-auth" for the insurance company they lied on multiple occasions claiming that the product was not covered - 1st time they didnt even contact them and said a website showed that it wasn't covered, 2nd time they said that the insurance company had responded and declined and that I would need to try the other product first. What they didnt know is that both times I had contacted the insurance first and they said that while my prescription was not a preferred product that due to my plan being an HSA they would not decline - busted them out twice and then they had the nerve to tell me that they are still seeing patients and will not have time to do anything yet again today. This… whole process of getting the medicine approved started a week ago. I have already gone back to my primary care physician and asked to be referred to another Dr. even if that new doctor isn't around here. AVOID THIS OFFICE AT ALL COSTS.

Dr visit was went well, not a long wait once there, but he was booked out a month. That may be normal as I have never really gone to a specialist. His office staff was most likely some of the rudest people that I have ever come across - always were very quick to tell me how long something was going to take as far as paperwork or phone calls as if I was inconveniencing them. Dr Movva was good, but definitely needs some changes in the office.
