Dr. Ayse Nur Sahin-Efe, MD

Dr Efe is A caring ,pleasant and efficient. Dr. She sets up a plan of care and follows it closely. I would highly recommend her

During our over the phone visit, Dr. Sahin did not give me time to explain the blood sugar numbers and jumped to adjust the insulin units rather than asking me more follow up questions such as if i m doing something differently or if i have noticed any changes. After she changed the dosage, i informed her of certain changes i made following her previously given instructions on managing blood sugar. She raised her voice at me saying that i should have told her that before and that she can't consult over the phone if I can't give her accurate information. She, being the medical professional, should keep calm and ask a patient for more details rather than jumping in with instructions before letting the other person finish and later accusing that person for giving incomplete information.

Dr. Sahin-Efe practically accused me of being a liar. I told her that taking Advil or Tylenol dangerously lowered my blood sugars. She said that as an endochronologist, the only thing that would lower my blood sugars is insulin. She cut back on my fast-acting insulin so much that I could only eat one meal a day (I'm insulin resistant) and cut back on long-acting insulin so that my blood sugars were so high in the a.m. that I could barely get out of bed. Plus, I asked about my hair loss and didn't get an answer. I didn't get a lot of answers from her. I finally just hung up on her. I will NOT be going back to her or her horrible staff. They need personality transplants.

I went to Dr Efe due to hair loss, eyebrow loss, chronic fatigue, sleep disturbances, brain fog, and weight gain (30+ lbs in less than two months). She wrote down my symptoms as "weight gain, unwanted body hair, and acne" and refused to treat anything other than high testosterone, which I was informed was due to my weight gain--which was a recent and not an original symptom unlike the others. I wound up seeking a second opinion by someone who actually tested my adrenals and discovered that I had low cortisol levels and a T3 thyroid conversion issue. I'm now on medications and after day one, had a HUGE difference in both my energy levels. I can now actually function during the day and get out of bed in the morning, and my brain fog is gone. I was an athlete prior to getting sick, and am now back to running 10Ks and half marathon training. I'm also off the sleep meds I was taking. Last time I checked, adrenal disorders were part of endocrinology and she should've found out what was wrong… with me vs fat shaming and shoving medications at me to treat symptoms without actually finding out the cause. This doctor should be disbarred.

I saw Dr Sahin for a follow up because my original endocrinologist left. I found her to be a medication pusher. She never asked how I was feeling on my thyroid medication as I had just found out I had hypothyroidism 2 months prior. She mentioned being put on more medication for things I never brought up. She made me feel like she did not want to help me. She was more concerned about documenting her note in my medical record. She never looked at my previous notes or medical record which was right in front of her, and accessible with just one click. I will not be going back to her.
